June 28, 2021
I have had the best few weeks of representing the California Federation Members at the GFWC level. I have attended meetings with the Western States Region Board, the GFWC State Presidents in a few small committee meetings and a large meeting with the wonderfully large group of all of us, and the GFWC Board of Director’s Meeting that literally just finished it was 2-day meeting!
It has been a Zoom Marathon; thanks go to each of you for the opportunity & trust you have placed in me allowing me the honor.
I have gleaned so much information and cannot wait to share what I have learned and will pass that on as I receive files and information via email. I was especially excited about the proposed GFWC June 2021 Strategic Plan. This is a fabulous document that I was able to download and follow as presented, I promise to share it with each of you when I receive the go-ahead. It was wonderful to see the updates in color of what is being updated, ongoing & achieved, so interesting.
So, I am going to keep it short this week, I have some things wanting attention at home too. Enjoy the last of June and start of July, may your Independence Day be whatever you imagine…I am imagining no fireworks or booms.
Luv, Pam

Lest We Forget!
Fireworks and cookouts
And time spent with friends.
Swimming and playing
The good times never end.
But lest we forget
The reason for today
Let’s all say it now
Happy Independence Day!

While we celebrate our independence, let’s remember those Veterans who continue to suffer the effects of PTSD. Yesterday, June 27 is designated as National Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Injury Awareness Day. The VA reports that between 10-15% of Veterans have a clinical diagnosis for post traumatic stress. PTSD is treatable, although the stigma prevents many from seeking help, which in turn, results in many not seeking assistance - and 22 Veterans a day committing suicide.

Have you sent your information to Mary Lou yet ?
Now that we have mostly weathered the Pandemic storm, lets see what a difference we made! Many clubs made masks and distributed them for free to many institutions.  We want to know how many masks you made (hopefully you kept track}. To whom they were given too, and how many hours were spent as well as how much it cost you ($).
I hope to write an article for the Clubwoman so if you have any interesting stories, include those also. I hope to have all the information compiles by August 1 so I would appreciate the information as soon as possible. You can email me at mbenzel@att.net
