THE PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE

Hello CFWC: Congratulations to all our CFWC club and district presidents on your election and thank you to their board officers and chairmen for giving their time and talent as well to serve.

Some of you are returning and some of you are new to this office and I hope the next year, or two, will be an exciting and informative time for you as it will be for me and the CFWC Executive Committee.

Please take advantage of these months to get organized and familiarize yourself with the CFWC meeting calendar (on the website) and the new administration. The current CFWC procedure/yearbook is in production, and I thank the districts for sending their contact information in advance with the club information form helping to make a good start.

For your information the convention club and district awards list is now posted on the CFWC.org website, as well as the updated bylaws.

The executive board is preparing for the July 24 & 25 Board meeting at the Bakerfield Marriott at the Convention Center, 801 Truxton Ave. Bakersfield 93301. This board meeting will be combining the July and September board meetings. There will not be a September board meeting.

Focus is on membership motivation and spotlighting the individual CFWC Chairmen and their department programs. It is important that the district membership chairmen attend this July meeting for the special workshops presented by the CFWC Membership team.

The District Presidents and Deans will not make a report at this meeting but will be learning and “shopping” for project information from the chairmen to take back to district and clubs.

Continue to be useful, be loving, be federated.

Chris.

LEGISLATION & PUBLIC POLICY - KATHY HOLM, Chair

The project below was #2 of the top ten state awards sent to GFWC. It’s another resolution! This project also received a club award for a large club in the category of Legislation & Public Policy at the 2026 CFWC Convention in Ontario. Congratulations, Chula Vista Women’s Club and Southern District!

Chula Vista Women’s Club (CA) – “Southern District Resolution”

This project was sparked by a District training on resolutions. A Resolution Committee was formed, and the committee chose to focus on the Imperial Beach and Tijuana River sewage issue. Each member conducted in-depth research on the problem and took time to learn the proper process for drafting a resolution. Once prepared, a designated member drafted the resolution, which was refined through collaborative Zoom meetings with Southern District representatives. These discussions ensured the resolution met all requirements and received approval from local leadership. The Committee proudly presented the resolution at the 2025 State Convention, where it was approved with one minor correction. The club resolution “Mitigating Transboundary Wastewater Pollution Affecting U.S. Coastal Communities” is set to be officially adopted at the State Convention in May 2026.
