EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CORNER

MEMBERSHIP - AREA D VP - ALISON ECCLESTON

Membership Branding is about clarifying your message, strengthening your story, and inviting others to belong. Branding shows the world who you are, what you value, and what you are doing. When your mission, logo, tagline, story, and website work together, they help people see the heart of your club and invite them to become part of it.

Part two, review the core branding pieces.

Branding helps people notice, understand, and feel invited into your club. A strong brand gives people an immediate sense of who you are, what you value, and why they may want to belong.

Your Mission Statement-Do you have one? Is it still relevant? How would we update it?

Logo- is it sharp, clean, bold, and easy to recognize? Does it represent the club beyond one administration?

Tagline- Do we have a short phrase that sparks interest and captures our purpose?

LEGISLATION & PUBLIC POLICY - KATHY HOLM, Chair

Congress left Washington for its August recess without passing the SAVE Act (H.R. 22), but there is growing discussion about taking portions of the SAVE Act and attaching them to other legislation Congress must consider when lawmakers return, including budget and other “must-pass” bills.

Moving these provisions piecemeal could limit the opportunity for the public and lawmakers to fully debate, review, and understand significant changes to election and voter registration requirements including their potential fiscal and operational impacts. That’s why staying engaged matters.

Before Congress returns, please contact your elected officials and urge them to oppose efforts to add SAVE Act provisions to other legislation.

Your voice can help ensure these important changes receive the full debate and scrutiny they deserve.

ARTS & CULTURE - NANCY JO BANKO, Chair

It’s so exciting that GFWC is spotlighting Arts & Culture with the Octopus Challenge. This is a cumulative project to be completed over the next two years. Clubs are encouraged to complete two projects in each of four categories: Art, Music, Dance/Theatre and Culture. Additional bonus points for 2 projects supporting Affiliate Organizations and 2 more in “lesser-known Cultural Traditions, such as Lei Day, Diwali, Dia de los Muertos, Juneteenth, and more.” Award certificates will be presented at GFWC Convention 2028 to any club that completes the project with special recognition for clubs which also complete the bonus challenge.

Start planning now, because October is National Arts & Humanities Month. What a great opportunity to get started on the Challenge!

JENNIE AWARD - VICKI HOLDEN, Chair

IS SHE SITTING BESIDE YOU?

Sometimes the most remarkable women are the ones we know so well that we forget just how remarkable they are.

Think about the women in your club. Is there someone who is always willing to help? Someone whose years of service have made a difference not only in her club, but also in her community and in the lives of those around her?

The Jennie Award recognizes a lifetime of commitment — to family, club and community.

Your nominee doesn't have to be the woman with the most titles or the one who receives the most attention. She may simply be the woman who has quietly been making a difference for years. Could your club's Jennie be sitting beside you?

Now is the time to start looking — and, just as important, to start gathering the stories and information that will help tell her story. General information, deadlines and the fillable nomination form are available at www.cfwc.org under Forms.

Don't wait until the deadline to recognize a lifetime of service.
