FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT,

Dear Members and Friends:
Summer Boards in San Ramon were wonderful! Thank you to all who were able to come and enjoy face to face meeting time together.

Many Thanks to Mt. Diablo District and District President Lynn Confetti-Ledbetter for the beautiful President's reception that was enjoyed by many.

The call is out for September Boards at the Hilton Costa Mesa September 15,16 and 17.  This Board meeting is all about Membership, so hope you will be able to join us.

Resolutions and Bylaws will also meet at this Board meeting so please attend if you are on those Committees.

We will added two special workshops during the general session: Parliamentary Law by our CFWC State Parliamentarian, Joyce Opjorden; and Amenities by our CFWC Amenities Chairman Libby Buckley.

Marcia Willett has arranged for a speaker on Domestic Violence on Friday evening and Saturday evening the American Cancer Society pediatrics will speak.

Reggie Maddox, our CFWC ESO Chairman will have a book exchange, "bring one, take one" so please bring a finished book you have read and take home a new one to read.

CFWC is Blessed, Bright and Bold! See you all soon!
Love and aloha,
Barbara

Announcements:
Western States is asking for a purse and gift cards inside for their fundraiser this year.
Sonja Hults has donated a blue cross body Kate Spade purse, and if any of you have a small gift card you might not have used, please send to me by August 24 so I can include in the purse for Western States, or if you are going to Western States, you can give to me there. Thank you kindly.

District Presidents:
I need your 8 1/2 X 11 inch collage page of District members for the 18 month calendar by Sept. Boards now.
Remember, the more members in it, the more likely they are to buy one if they are included in the District pictures. Thank you.

LEADERSHIP - Vicki Holden, Chair
Wow!  Look what I found at the recent CFWC State Board Meeting to add to your Leadership Toolkit.   It’s the newly updated “The Art of Leadership”, a handbook for the California Federation of Women’s Clubs.  It’s available at the CFWC Marketplace

You don’t have a Leadership Toolkit?  You can start one by going to gfwc.org, entering the Member Portal, use the drop down for the Digital Library, go to “L” and find Leadership. It’s listed there and can be downloaded FREE to your computer.

You don’t have an account on the GFWC Membership Portal? It’s easy to sign up and you’ll find all sorts of great information.
Try it - you’ll like it!!
Civic Engagement & Outreach -

August 19 marks World Humanitarian Day, a time to recognize aid workers who have sacrificed their own lives to help people affected by global crises as well as honoring all aid and health workers who continue, despite the odds, to provide life-saving support and protection to people most in need. In 2021, a record 235 million people in 36 countries required humanitarian assistance. For many communities across the globe, life threatening crises are becoming increasingly complex, as climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic intensify hunger, deepen poverty, and fan the flames of conflicts over scarce resources.
WORKSHOPS ARE COMING THIS MONTH!!!

At the July CFWC Board meeting, it was announced that there we will continue with Workshops and the Social this year. The Workshops will be recorded and will be available the following Monday in YouTube. The first ones are coming up next week. We hope you can join us.
