Weekly News &
Business Resource Update
Tuesday, July 13, 2021
This week's email includes the names of our 2021 Business Excellence Award Winners, so check out the amazing young professionals and businesses that we will recognize at our Annual Banquet in August. You'll also find photos from last week's After Hours at First United Bank and plans for a second After Hours later this month. We celebrated one ribbon cutting event last week, and we have a couple more ribbons to cut this week and next, plus we have our Chamber Open Golf Tournament happening next Thursday the 22nd at the Tascosa Golf Club. We have a new member to the Chamber Team we are happy to welcome, and there's an important save the date and teaser about this year's barbecue cook-off you don't want to miss on October 7th. You can get more information on all of this and more below.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and add new information and resources to our COVID Resource Page on our website that may be important to our members.

On behalf of our staff, Board of Directors, and the Amarillo business community, we want to thank you for your continued support of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, and we look forward to serving you now and in the future. Please let us know what we can do to help your business.

Welcome to the Chamber Team
Please help us welcome Sydney Frye as the newest member of the Chamber Team as the Communication & Marketing Assistant. Sydney comes to us from Friona and is a recent WTAMU graduate with a BS in Advertising & Public Relations. Sydney will be taking over most of the Chamber's social media sites and helping out with marketing our events and connecting with our members.

If you are a member and are having an event that you would like for us to share on our social media sites, please reach out to her at 806-342-2019 or email sydney@amarillo-chamber.org for information on how we can help.

We will be getting her official photo added to our website soon, but in the meantime, we caught this picture of her working at last week's After Hours!
Save the Date: Thursday, October 7th for the
25th Almost Annual Good Times Celebration Barbecue Cook-Off
Thursday, October 7, 2021
5pm-8pm
Tri-State Fairgrounds
It's official! We will finally get to hold our 25th Annual Barbecue Cook-Off that was canceled last year on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Everything you love about this event will stay the same, except for the location. We are thrilled to have found a new location for this year at the Amarillo Tri-State Fairgrounds in the parking lot just outside of the Amarillo National Center arena. This new location will allow us to have some extra room to move around and accommodate our 100+ cooking teams and all of the attendees. Ticket prices will remain the same at $30 in advance and $40 at the gate, and still include all you can eat, drink, and network! Tickets will go on sale in mid-August through all Panhandle Ticket outlets.

If you had a cooking team in our 2019 event, you should have gotten an email about reserving your space for this event earlier this week. If you missed the email or are new and want more information about possibly becoming a sponsor and having a team, please contact Lindsey Arbeiter at 806-342-2006 or email lindsey@amarillo-chamber.org for details and costs.

Watch our website and social media for more barbecue cook-off information coming soon!
