NEWS OF OUR MEMBERS!
The 33rd Annual Commercial Bank 5K Run/Walk/Roll is now fully VIRTUAL!

From the Mason Public Schools Foundation:

To all our current and past participants,

It is with our community's safety in mind that we decided to move our annual Commercial Bank Mason 5K and Bulldog Runs to a fully virtual event. We were hopeful that by the time of our live event, things would be different but due to recent COVID surges in our immediate community, we are moving forward with our fully virtual option.
We will continue with open registration until April 30, 2021, at 4:00 PM. Registration will remain at $27.00 with no additional upcharge.

Please note the following:
We are still accepting virtual race registrations.

Packet pick-up will be moved to a new, local location. The dates are Wednesday, April 28, and Thursday, April 29 between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The location will be posted ASAP!

We appreciate your participation. This is a school fundraiser and the proceeds benefit all of our Mason students.

Thank you for your understanding. We hope next year's race is a live event.

Go Bulldogs!
Mason Lions Club Partners with Saddleback BBQ

The Mason Lions Club usually awards two scholarships to Mason High School seniors admitted to college. The award decisions are based on academics, character, attendance, and community service. The Raymond Collar Scholarship and Ralph (Bud) Swinehart Memorial Scholarships were named after past Lions Club members and provide awards of $1000 each.

Through May 2, the Mason Lions Club is doing a barbeque sauce fundraiser in partnership with Saddleback BBQ. They are selling 12-ounce bottles of their “Sweet and Savory” and “Michigan Mustard” barbeque sauces for ten dollars a bottle to raise money for their scholarships.

You may have heard that earlier this year, Saddleback BBQ owners Matt Gillett and Travis Stoliker paid off the entire $1753.21 school lunch debt for Mason Public Schools’ students. They said in a WILX-TV news report that they have made it through the pandemic okay so far in both their REO Town and Okemos locations. They’re not swimming in cash, but they want to help others pull through too.

Matt Gillett graduated from Mason High School in 2000 and says it is an honor to be able to help the families in the Mason community. The Mason Lions Club has that same community service commitment and is proud to sell their sauces in this fundraising effort.

Donors are asked to pre-order and pay for sauces online for later pickup on Sunday, May 2, 2021 in the Mason Lions Club booth at the MACC Spring Fling Show. The free admission show is from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Ingham County Fairgrounds, 700 E. Ash Street in Mason. Porch pickup before April 29 is also available in a Mason neighborhood for those who can’t wait. No shipping is available.

Go to https://masonlionsclub.square.site/ to order and donate. For all details, contact club secretary Lion Doug Klein at (517) 775-8601 or contact the club at [email protected] by e-mail. Community members may also donate by cash or check by mailing their advance order to the Mason Lions Club in care of Secretary Doug Klein, 617 Randolph, Mason, MI 48854, and requesting pickup at the show on May 2 or arranging for porch pickup before April 29 by phone or e-mail.
