Board Nominations Open!

It’s that time of year: the CHCC Board is open for nominations!

Looking to get involved in making the community better, safer, stronger? Join the board! Know of someone with a passion for community? Nominate them or yourself here!

What does the commitment look like? The Board meets for 1.5 hrs, once a month; general community meetings happen once a month (also 1.5 hrs). Any special committees you’d want to join and/or work you want to contribute (e.g., social media marketing? finding space for board meetings? other talents to contribute?) would be additional time commitments you can choose to contribute.

What’s most important is: having a thoughtful, honest intention to engage with all members of the community for the purpose of making Capitol Hill great for everyone!

So, step up! Now is your time to shine!

Official voting will happen at the end of May.

CHCC Governance Meeting Recap

The Capitol Hill Community Council held its bi-annual Governance Meeting on April 15, 2026. Community members broke into groups to discuss what they would like to see the CHCC focus on/do/change, as it moves forward.

Following is a summary of the feedback the groups provided, as it related to governance of the CHCC:

  1. Clarify the role of the community council Does it exist just to share information to members of the community? Does it exist to advocate for certain things? Middle path is recognizing that we are not an issue-based advocacy org, but that we should be gathering information both to share to the community and to share to decisionmakers in the community, while still acknowledging that we can’t talk to everyone
  2. Make board meetings public
  3. Discord is hard to navigate; find another communication tool
  4. Committees reporting back to the larger group about what they did
  5. Have a a community meeting night for committees

The next step of the CHCC is to discuss these items among the board members and present feedback to the community.
