A Look Back at 2022
Reflections and Highlights from FY 2022
Annual Letter from CHDI's President & CEO
Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As I reflect on the past year, I am grateful to our colleagues and partners for recognizing the significant behavioral health needs of youth and their families, and doing incredible work to make a difference. A collective response to a significant crisis was needed, and our partners across the state came together to identify new and innovative solutions. New state and federal legislation were passed, and historic investments were made. In so many sectors, I witnessed dedicated and committed individuals stepping up and working harder than ever to impact the children’s behavioral health system positively. Those efforts will have lasting impacts. It is my sincere hope that we all embrace this season of rest and recuperation and return in 2023 ready to do even greater things!

Resources for Schools
Expanding Comprehensive School Mental Health in 2023
CHDI is expanding our Comprehensive School Mental Health (CSMH) work in 2023, in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF), to assist two school districts. The new CSMH initiative builds off of the current Project AWARE initiative that Middletown, Naugatuck, and Windham Public Schools are utilizing. Project AWARE is helping these districts support students' trauma and behavioral health needs using a Comprehensive School Mental Health (CSMH) framework.

Schools interested in using a CSMH approach to address students' behavioral health needs should contact Dr. Jamie LoCurto (locurto@uchc.edu) to inquire about participating in the CSMH initiative or accessing free technical assistance.
