Kymete Kodra-Gashi, John Jay β02, Brooklyn College β04 and CUNY SPS β05, is about to graduate from her fourth CUNY school! After getting a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and an advanced certificate in immigration law studies, Kymete decided to pursue an English teaching certificate at Lehman College. She's currently the associate director of administrative operations at CUNY CIS, and credits CUNYCAP and CUNY Citizenship Now! for her current career. Kymete's CUNY story doesn't stop there; she met her husband while working at City College, and theyβve both been CUNY employees for almost two decades. In the future, Kymete plans to help high school students who are applying to CUNY.
How did Kymete get here? She challenged herself academically with the support of her supervisors and professors. She credits CUNY Citizenship Now! Director Allan Wernick, professor Tiffany DeJaynes, Dr. Ian Coggins, professor Molly Sherman and Ruth Kamona, among others, for their roles in her educational and professional development. She extends special thanks to her supervisor James Haggard, who encouraged her to pursue her latest certificate.
