chfa announces housing tax credit awards

On November 27th, CHFA announced that 10 developments were awarded a reservation of federal and state Housing Tax Credits. In total, these developments will support 1,169 affordable rental housing units in Colorado, and will seek to address various housing needs including supporting individuals, families, persons experiencing homelessness, individuals with Intellectual and Development Disabilities (I/DD), and older adults. Developments awarded Housing Tax Credits during this round will be located in Aurora, Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, Glenwood Springs, Granby, Pueblo, and Westminster.

introducing the buildout, a chfa podcast

CHFA is proud to introduce The Buildout, a podcast featuring conversations about the work to solve Colorado’s housing crisis and strengthen community.


Over the course of eight episodes, Season One will explore a variety of topics across the housing continuum and will feature guests from CHFA as well as from partner organizations around the state. A podcast trailer is available now on CHFA’s website at chfainfo.com/buildout and Episode One, featuring a conversation with Cris White, CHFA’s retiring Executive Director and CEO, will be available on podcasting platforms on December 19th.

CHFA convened its annual Private Activity Bond (PAB) Stakeholder Meeting on Wednesday, December 11th. Private Activity Bonds support CHFA’s investments across the housing continuum, from affordable rental housing, to homeownership, to supporting Colorado businesses. Slides from the stakeholder meeting are available now on the CHFA website, along with more information about how Private Activity Bonds support CHFA’s mission.

The Colorado Affordable Housing Preservation Summit co-hosted by Enterprise Community Partners and CHFA was held Wednesday, December 11th in Denver. The event convened a diverse set of partners supporting collaborative preservation efforts in Colorado. CHFA Preservation Officer Brittney Cousin and Terry Barnard, Manager, Community Development Lending spoke at the event. state legislator breakfast and 2024 affordable housing ballot measures 

On December 5th, CHFA hosted a breakfast for new members of the Colorado General Assembly. Attendees gathered to network and learn about CHFA’s programs and resources prior to the start of the 2025 legislative session, which begins January 8, 2025.


In addition, CHFA has published a list of election results regarding state, county, and municipal ballot measures from across the state related to affordable housing, including a map illustrating where measures passed and failed throughout the state. The results may be viewed via the link below.

Like it Forward - We Don't Waste

chfa donates $1.4M to local nonprofits

CHFA recently announced its second round of 2024 Direct Effect Awards, which recognize Colorado nonprofit organizations whose missions align with CHFA’s work. In Round Two, CHFA donated $1,476,000 to 115 nonprofits across Colorado. 


In addition, CHFA completed its Like it Forward social media campaign benefiting We Don’t Waste, a Denver-based nonprofit organization working to increase food access and protect the planet by rescuing and repurposing food, while educating and advocating to increase food security and decrease food waste. Each year during the holiday season, CHFA shares social media posts to elevate awareness and generate support for a Colorado nonprofit, donating $5 for each like or share on the posts during the campaign. The total amount raised will be announced by CHFA later this week.

proposition 123 updates

CHFA has published a list of preliminary selections for the Proposition 123 Concessionary Debt program, as well as a list of projects invited to complete a full application for the Proposition 123 Land Banking program. The lists are published on the Affordable Housing Financing Fund website along with complete program details.
