| | chfa welcomes new and returning board members | Governor Jared Polis recently announced the appointment of Beth Klein and Pat Meyers, and reappointment of Sylvia Wirba, to CHFA’s Board of Directors. CHFA has completed its inaugural award round of Middle-income Housing Tax Credits (MIHTC), allocating $4,832,748 in state MIHTC to three developments that will support the construction of 220 affordable middle-income rental housing units. The supported developments will be located in Denver and Fraser.
Established by HB24-1316, MIHTC is a five-year pilot program that supports the development of rental housing for Coloradans with middle incomes. The housing will support renters whose incomes are too high to qualify for housing supported with traditional resources such as federal Housing Tax Credits, but who may still be overburdened by market rents.
| | direct effect round two opens august 18 | CHFA’s Direct Effect Awards recognize Colorado nonprofit organizations whose missions align with CHFA’s work to strengthen Colorado by investing in affordable housing and community development. Beginning August 18th, applications will be accepted for 2025 Round Two Awards. Applications will be accepted through September 12th, and awardees will be notified in December. Round One awardees will be notified later this week. | | | | | homeownership sweepstakes winner announced | In June, to celebrate National Homeownership Month, CHFA invited CHFA homeowners to share how owning their home has changed their life for a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card. After receiving more than 150 eligible entries, David from Wellington was randomly selected as the winner! “When we moved to Colorado eight years ago, we fell in love with all its beauty,” said David. “But for a long time, owning a home here felt out of reach. We honestly thought we’d have to leave the place we loved just to find something affordable. CHFA changed that.” Congratulations, David! | | rent reporting for credit program launched | |
CHFA has announced a partnership with Esusu, Inc.—a leading financial technology company leveraging positive rent reporting for credit building—to sponsor rent reporting services for tenants living in CHFA-supported properties. This new partnership builds on the success of the Rent Reporting for Credit Pilot Program established by HB21-1134 and administered by CHFA between 2021-2024.
Rent payments are not traditionally considered in credit scoring, though rent is often a household’s largest and most consistent payment each month. Esusu’s rent reporting service works with property management platforms to track and automatically report positive rent payments to the three major credit bureaus. CHFA will sponsor the Rent Reporting Program for up to 20,000 low- and moderate-income households living across the state who are renting in a multifamily property that has received financial investment from CHFA.

On August 12th, CHFA will host its annual golf tournament, which is named to posthumously honor CHFA’s former Executive Director and is an ongoing tribute to his years of dedication and passion for our mission. The 2025 event will be held at Arrowhead Golf Club in Littleton, and additional information about the tournament is available on the CHFA website.
Every year, CHFA’s golf tournament raises funds to support nonprofits whose work aligns with CHFA's mission of investing in affordable housing and community development. This year, the tournament proceeds will support Montbello Organizing Committee (MOC), a nonprofit dedicated to energizing and supporting Montbello stakeholders and resident leaders in their efforts to proactively and responsibly tackle the critical issues impacting their quality of life. MOC identifies and addresses many challenges the community faces, including lack of affordable housing. Those wishing to join CHFA in supporting the work of MOC are encouraged to make a donation.
