CHFA’s second round of 2026 Direct Effect Awards is now open, and applications will be accepted through July 17, 2026. Round Two is open to nonprofit organizations applying for funds to advance economic development, food access, and education.
Direct Effect Awards are an opportunity for CHFA to recognize and support Colorado nonprofits whose missions align with our work to strengthen Colorado by investing in affordable housing and community development. In order to review applications more holistically and respond to an increased volume of requests, CHFA has refined its Direct Effect funding guidelines to be more responsive to organizations working to directly advance affordable housing and economic development. Please see the CHFA website for additional information and the Direct Effect Awards application. Round Two selections will be announced in October.

Throughout the month, CHFA home mortgage customers have been sharing why owning a home in Colorado is important to them and what makes their home unique in 200 words or less, along with a photo of them and their home. CHFA will hold three public hearings via Zoom to hear input regarding the 2027-2028 Housing Tax Credit Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP). The QAP is published every other year, and it describes the process for the allocation of Housing Tax Credits. It is available for review and comment by interested parties before approval by the Governor of Colorado and final publication.
A draft of the 2027-2028 QAP and Summary of Changes are available on CHFA’s website at chfainfo.com/qap, and links to register for the hearings via Zoom are available via the link below. Those unable to attend a hearing may submit written comments to Kathryn Grosscup, CHFA Manager, Housing Tax Credit, at kgrosscup@chfainfo.com until August 14, 2026.
| | | | | chfa closes first loan under new affordable homeownership program | In June, CHFA announced the closing of a $5.7 million construction loan to support Wolff Street Flats, a new, affordable for-sale housing development in Denver. Upon completion, the development will offer 23 affordable condominium homes to qualified homebuyers. The loan was made through the CHFA Drive It Home – Construction Loansm program, which provides below-market interest rates to home builders to support new construction of for-sale homes to be sold at affordable price points for Colorado buyers. | | Follow CHFA on social media to keep up with our involvement at various happenings around Colorado.
