chfa chfa announces 2022 round one housing tax credit awards
CHFA is pleased to announce 12 developments have been awarded a reservation of federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits to support the new construction of 592 affordable apartments. These developments will serve various housing needs facing households with low and moderate income in Colorado, including supporting individuals and families who are transitioning out of homelessness, older adults, and veterans. 
technical assistance services and grants awarded to support small-scale housing development
CHFA recently completed the first 2022 application round for its Small-scale Housing Technical Assistance program. The program helps catalyze small-scale affordable housing developments by providing access to pro bono affordable housing consulting and pre-development grant assistance. In this round, seven projects were supported.
building the future scholarship launched by chfa to support college education
CHFA has launched its new Building the Future Scholarship Fund, which dedicates $1.2 million to support college education across Colorado. The multiphase, multiyear fund will provide up to 260 scholarships to be awarded over 10-year periods. Phase one will support scholarships for students attending Colorado Mesa University, Colorado State University Pueblo, Fort Lewis College, Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges, and University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture and Planning.
chfa donates $440,500 to 34 nonprofits with first round of 2022 direct effect awards
CHFA is proud to announce its Round One 2022 Direct Effect Award recipients. CHFA’s Direct Effect Awards recognize Colorado nonprofit organizations whose missions align with CHFA’s vision that everyone in Colorado should have the opportunity for housing stability and economic prosperity.

CHFA is donating $440,500 to 34 organizations through its Direct Effect program in Round One. CHFA received over 40 applications seeking more than $800,000 in combined funding.

The application for Direct Effect Round Two will open on June 1st and close on June 30th.
chfa receives $150,000 grant to support partnership development with health sector
The National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA), in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, has awarded a $150,000 grant to CHFA to support the development of partnerships with hospitals, health systems, and other health organizations to expand financing for affordable housing development and preservation.
2022 state legislative session adjourns
On Wednesday, May 11th, the 73rd Colorado General Assembly adjourned their second legislative session. Affordable housing investment was top among the issues debated. Discussions started with significant work during the interim to identify opportunities for transformative housing investment leveraging $400 million in ARPA funds. Among the housing bills that successfully passed were two that allocated additional investment in key CHFA programs.

On April 27th, CHFA partnered with the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) and The Colorado Health Foundation to host a Health and Housing Convening on expanding health and housing partnerships. The mission of the half-day event was to bring together a diverse group of approximately 80 influencers from Colorado housing, healthcare, and philanthropic sectors to:
  • identify barriers and opportunities for partnerships and collaboration; 
  • explore how health, housing, and philanthropy can work together to leverage the assets of each industry; and 
  • establish connections that can build future partnerships.
chfa joins crc rural action network
CHFA recently became a Visionary Partner of the Rural Action Network (RAN) at the Community Resource Center (CRC) based in Denver. RAN works to build capacity, engagement, relationships, and collaboration among rural nonprofits. Through this partnership, CHFA hopes to strengthen its knowledge of rural community needs and support nonprofits in their endeavors to address those needs.
2022 david w. herlinger golf tournament coming this summer
CHFA’s 2022 David W. Herlinger Golf Tournament will be held on Wednesday, August 31st, at Fossil Trace Golf Course in Golden, Colorado.

This year’s beneficiary is Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute (RMMFI). RMMFI creates the space for communities and people of all backgrounds to realize their unique potential through the power of entrepreneurship. RMMFI invests in entrepreneurs’ personal and business development through a proven mix of classroom, coaching, capital, and community. Since 2008, RMMFI has supported the launch or expansion of over 330 businesses in Denver, Aurora, and the San Luis Valley, 90 percent of which are owned by women and/or people of color.
