CHI To Celebrate 28 Years of Bringing Families Home on June 26
Honoring Steven C. Brill, Rhonda Klch & Wells Fargo
CHI is hosting its annual benefit Bringing Families Home on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion in Glen Head, NY. Join us for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, food stations, silent auction and award presentation as we honor Steven C. Brill with the Founders Award , Rhonda Klch with the CHI Hero Award and Wells Fargo, with AVP of Community Outreach Luz Lockward as the Corporate Honoree. This event raises vital funds to support CHI programs that assist homeless and low-income individuals and families across Long Island and the Lower Hudson Valley.

CHI will recognize Steven C. Brill, President of Clear Point Advisors, with the Founders Award . Mr. Brill has served on the Board of Directors at CHI for 25 years, most recently in capacity as its Chairman. He is a widely respected in the investment and financial planning services field. He held senior and advisory positions at Chase (Chemical Bank), Dean Witter Reynolds, and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company before founding Clear Point Advisors in 1998. Mr. Brill’s partnership with CHI has enabled it to grow, prosper and succeed throughout the years, while continuing to meet an increased need for services in our communities.

CHI Hero Rhonda Klch runs the Equity First Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing financial education and best practices to a variety of communities. She annually hosts the Angel Awards where she honors women leaders on Long Island. Additionally Ms. Klch does extensive volunteer work for numerous charities, including CHI where she has distributed holiday gifts, Easter baskets and other items to children living in emergency housing. Her impact on our communities is immeasurable. She has personally touched the lives of the many clients CHI assists and for that we honor her with the CHI Hero award.

Wells Fargo is the Corporate Honoree and has been a much appreciated partner of CHI’s for many years, sponsoring financial education and counseling that readies families and individuals for homeownership and prevents foreclosure. Working with customers and meeting them where they are has inspired “Fast Track” events where clients may be approved for loan modifications on the spot. In particular, Luz Lockward, AVP, Community Outreach Consultant for the Northeast Region, has become a cherished member of the CHI team, working collaboratively to inspire community development and assist CHI in meeting its mission. Her enthusiasm is contagious and we admire her inspirational leadership.

New York State Extends Funding for Foreclosure Prevention
Households in Westchester County may continue to come to CHI for foreclosure prevention assistance! The Office of the Attorney General of New York State extended funding to allow programs statewide to continue to offer foreclosure counseling through the end of 2019.

During the time of uncertainty about whether or not funding would be extended - which previously ended on March 31, 2019 - CHI stopped taking on new clients to maintain the integrity of the program and continuity with existing clients. Many times a loan modification process can take a number of months and CHI wants to follow through with every case.

CHI has been offering foreclosure prevention counseling since 2009. Over that time, thousands of households have benefited from such counseling with over 840 securing a loan modification or other remedy to remain in their homes.
Bella's Birthday Box Makes A Delivery!
CHI welcomed Bella Cross back again this year to donate boxes filled with items to throw a birthday party for children living in the CHI's Emergency Housing Apartment Program (EHAP). Bella and her parents, Estee and Todd's, incredible efforts have resulted in the delivery of birthday boxes to approximately 260 children living in emergency housing since the fall of 2018. It is so inspiring to see young children giving back to our communities.
