HISPANIC COMMUNITY MEETING
|
CHICO will be holding our next monthly community meeting on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00 am. Our guest speaker will be Decatur Chief of Police Shane Brandel.
This meeting is open to all community members and families. Spanish interpreters will be available as needed. RSVP below!
Directions: Head South on Route 51 and go past Rotary Park and Grove Road. It is the next left turn after Grove Road at the giant American Flag.
Once you turn, there will be a soccer field on the left and a building under construction on the right.
Continue straight (East) past the pavilion and through a set of opened gates. This is the WRC Building.

CHICO members Jessica, Rosalba, Karina, Alicia, Maria, and Elizabeth volunteered at Northeast Community Fund in November preparing and distributing Thanksgiving food baskets!

|
CHICO participated in the Decatur Area Arts Council's Christmas Card Lane competition.
The cards will be displayed downtown at Preston Jackson Park through December 30th.
|

The holiday season is quickly approaching and we have you covered!
CHICO t-shirts are still available by filling out this t-shirt order request form. Once received, one of our members will contact you to go over pick-up or delivery details.
T-shirts are $12 and available in sizes small, medium, large, XL, and 2XL.

Volunteers are needed to help with the Decatur Park District's Trees on the Tees - especially on December 10th and 15th.

DOVE, INC. CHRISTMAS CARE AND SHARE PROGRAM

DOVE is looking for bilingual volunteers to assist families to pick up their toys at their annual Christmas Care and Share event on December 16th at 8:30 am.

The Good Samaritan Inn is looking for December volunteers to help serve their daily meals.
The 9:00 to 11:00 am shift can be filled by 2 people and involves food preparation.
The 11:00 am to 1:00 pm shift requires 5 to 7 people to help serve patrons the daily noon meal.

Hands of Heart has opened a warmer center at OKOCC to help the homeless get off the streets in cold temperatures.

The Boys & Girls Club of Decatur is offering a $4/month inclusive after school program for youth ages 7 to 17.

DOLLY PARTON'S IMAGINATION LIBRARY FOR MACON COUNTY
|
United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois and The Community Foundation of Macon County have partnered to establish the Macon County Imagination Library, which encourages literacy by mailing free books to children from birth to age 5.
|

THE SALVATION ARMY OF DECATUR EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
|
If you are at risk of eviction or homelessness and need help paying rent, contact the Salvation Army of Decatur for more information on how you can apply for rent assistance.
Applications are due on December 31st.

The Springfield Ballet Company will be performing The Nutcracker at the Decatur Civic Center.

The Decatur Public Library is hosting two opportunities to join in special Christmas activities in the Children's Section.
They will have a holiday craft, games, Christmas decorations, and LOTS of holiday books, music, and DVDs.

Santa House hours in Central Park begin this weekend. Grab the kiddos and their letters to Santa and head downtown to visit Santa in the Transfer House!

Come join in on the holiday cheer with a night full of holiday treats, music, activities, and shopping!

SANTA FLY-IN TO THE PARKS
|
Santa will be flying over 4 neighborhood parks before heading back to the North Pole to prepare for Christmas!
This is a family friendly event where children will meet Santa, receive candy canes, and hand Santa their letters.

|
|
Children ages 3 to 10 can bring a pillow and wear PJ's while they make a take-home craft, decorate cookies, and visit up close with the animals at Scovill Zoo.
Event times are 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Tickets are $18 or $15 w/ resident discount.

READiculous "BETWEEN THE HOLIDAYS" SHOW

Open to the public in the Children's Section of the Decatur Public Library at 10:00 am!
Ms. Susan and Ms. Alissa bring books to life with their dynamic story-acting program! READiculous is back to doing school assemblies so kids may have seen their school program - but this is an entirely different show with different books! For preschool and up!
