The Good Samaritan Inn is looking for January volunteers to help serve their daily meals.

The 9:00 to 11:00 am shift can be filled by 2 people and involves food preparation.

The 11:00 am to 1:00 pm shift requires 5 to 7 people to help serve patrons the daily noon meal.

Hands of Heart has opened a warmer center at OKOCC to help the homeless get off the streets in cold temperatures.

The Community Foundation of Macon County's scholarship portal is now open until March 1st for adults seeking scholarship funding for the 2023 fall semester.

United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois and The Community Foundation of Macon County have partnered to establish the Macon County Imagination Library, which encourages literacy by mailing free books to children from birth to age 5.

From January 6 - 26, the Decatur Area Arts Council Anne Lloyd Gallery will display the amazing artwork of young artists.

The Young Artist's Showcase features artwork created by students in the 5th through 8th grades from Macon County and surrounding areas.

The gallery is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays.

Celebrating its 38th season, the Greater Decatur Chorale is comprised of 50+ adults who enjoy singing and sharing their talents with the community.

Join them for their annual Winter Concert as they sing of love, and how it will keep us together!

There will be a march from Mueller Park to the Civic Center at 10:00 am to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Following the march, Richard Hansen, Mt. Zion high school teacher, will present "Teaching Our Past Improves Our Future," at 11:00 am in the Civic Center Theater.

The Decatur Human Relations Commission will also be presenting awards for students in the "Now is the Time to Live the Dream" contests for essays, poems, and short films.

The activities will be free and open to the public.

The Decatur Park District will facilitate a cheer camp with the Millikin cheer squad on January 16th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the DISC.

Richland Community College's Adult Education Program will be holding orientations for its free GED and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.

For ESL classes, orientation spots are open Monday and Tuesday, January 9th and 10th, and Thursday and Saturday, January 12th and 14th.

For GED program orientation, there are spots open on Wednesday, January 11th and Thursday, January 12th.
