HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH CELEBRATION EVENT FEEDBACK

Want to rep CHICO? Fill out this t-shirt order request form. Once received, one of our members will contact you to go over pick-up or delivery details.

T-shirts are $12 and available in sizes small, medium, large, XL, and 2XL.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
BOYS & GIRLS CLUB TRUNK OR TREAT
The Boys & Girls Club is searching for volunteers to pack their parking lot and decorate their cars for the annual Trunk or Treat on Monday, October 31st! Candy will be provided.

This event's purpose is to provide the youth of our community with a safe, well-lit environment to collect candy.

Volunteers should arrive around 4:30 pm for set up and the event is open to the public from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at 859 N Jasper St.

CHRISTMAS CARD LANE
CHICO will be participating in the Decatur Area Arts Council's 5th Annual Christmas Card Lane, a community art project for the holiday season.

If you would like to assist with creating the card design, please contact Isaac Zuniga at 217-433-1257.

Completed cards must be returned by November 17th and will be displayed downtown at Preston Jackson Park from November 21st to December 30th. The community will be invited to vote for their favorite card design and prize money will be awarded to the top three designs.
CHRISTMAS CARE AND SHARE PROGRAM
DOVE is looking for bilingual volunteers to assist families to pick up their toys at their annual Christmas Care and Share event on December 16th at 8:30 am.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES
ARTS AND FILM IN LATIN AMERICA COURSE
Luis Peralta will be teaching a non-credit course this fall at Millikin University that covers the most important and outstanding aspects of the fine arts in Latin America.

The course is taught on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 pm beginning October 19th until November 30th.

THE SALVATION ARMY OF DECATUR EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
If you are at risk of eviction or homelessness and need help paying rent, contact the Salvation Army of Decatur for more information on how you can apply for rent assistance.

Applications are due on December 31st.
ADULT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Community Foundation of Macon County's Adult Scholarship Program provides support to adults and nontraditional students for two and four-year degrees or master's degrees at Richland Community College, Millikin University, or any other regionally accredited CHEA college/university nationwide in person or online. Students in Macon County union apprenticeship programs are also eligible.

For Spring 2023, the application deadline is November 1st. Click here to apply.

DECATUR REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS BREAKFAST

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MARCH / RALLY
CASA'S GATSBY FUNDRAISING GALA
Mark your calendars for Macon County Court Appointed Special Advocates' (CASA) 3rd Gatsby Fundraising Gala on Saturday, October 15th at 6:00 pm at the Mt. Zion Convention Center.

All proceeds benefit CASA's vital work to advocate for the community's abused and neglected children. The evening offers an auction dinner, dancing, and more!

TANGO DEL CIELO
Looking for an evening of unique theatrical music and dance that features a fusion of styles including tango, flamenco, Spanish classical, and Latin jazz?

On Saturday, October 15th at 7:30 pm, Tango Del Cielo will be performing at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center.

Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the ticket office at 217-424-6318.

There will also be a FREE dance masterclass at 11:00 am on October 15th on the mainstage at Kirkland.

JASPER STREET FEST
The City of Decatur is beginning a new Great Streets Great Neighborhoods capacity-building process to improve the safety and beautification along Jasper Street.

Come out to Johns Hill Park on Thursday, October 20th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm for a night of family-friendly activities, a live DJ, games, food trucks & more!
COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR
On Saturday, October 22nd from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, there will be a Community Health Fair at Central Christian Church.

There will be free health screenings, dental health information, community resource tables, raffles, and giveaways.
