Joshua Goldstein will speak about Remains of the Everyday (UC Press, Dec. 2020), his book about the last century of recycling in China, with a focus on what led up to the contemporary recycling and plastics pollution crisis brought on by China's ban on importing recycling that began in 2018.
Bio: Professor Goldstein is an associate professor at USC. He has a BA from Brown University (1988) and a Ph.D. in Modern Chinese History from the University of California, San Diego (2000). Prof. Goldstein serves on the editorial boards of Zhongguo Xueshu and the Chinese Historical Review.
