Geraldine Overton, age 73, native of Mobile, Alabama and longtime resident of Miami, Florida, exchanged her worldly life for eternity on Thursday, June 6, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Geraldine was affectionately known as Geri to her friends and lovingly known as Dean to her immediate family. She graduated from Central High School in 1964, and Alabama State University in 1968 with a degree in Elementary Education and minor in Early Childhood Development. She pursed her dream of education in Miami, Florida. She was a phenomenal educator that taught for 39 years at Laura Saunders and Airbase Elementary Homestead Air force Base in the Miami Dade County Public Schools. Upon retirement, she returned to Mobile to spend time with her family in Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama. She is preceded in death by parents Arthur & Rosie Overton, Jr and sibling Reverend Anthony Wayne (Linda) Overton. She leaves to cherish her memories 7 siblings: Mary Davis, Clifton Overton, Dorothy (Issac) Crittenden, Nolan Overton, Aldrick Overton, Linda Overton, and Carolyn (Thomas) Nelson. A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. A private memorial ceremony and life celebration will also take place in Mobile, Alabama.
