Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that
values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,
you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Last Call For Nominations

It's not too late to turn in nominations

for next year's class of church officers!

The 2024 Officer Nominating Committee (ONC) is authorized by the Session to accept suggestions from the congregation to serve as Elders (5) for the class of 2027 , Trustees (2) for the class of 2027, and members (3) of the 2025 Officer Nominating Committee. All church officers should be persons of strong faith and dedicated disciples of Jesus Christ. Specifically, Elders need to be demonstrated leaders who are wise and mature in their Christian faith. They are responsible for the spiritual leadership of the church by prayerfully participating in the shared ministry of the Session and co-leading one of the church's seven standing committees: Buildings & Facilities, Care Shepherds, Congregation Family Life, Faith Formation, Finance Administration & Planning, Missions, and Worship & Music.

Thank you to those who have already nominated someone to serve in leadership for the upcoming year. Nominations may still be received through this upcoming Sunday, September 15. You may offer your submissions by completing a form from the link below and returning it to the church office or by emailing your nominations directly to Mary. Please hold the members of the 2024 Officer Nominating Committee (Amylyn Crawford-Thornton, Tammy Cox, Al Doty, Doris Fields, and Clark Parker) in your prayers as they begin their important work on behalf of our church family.

This Sunday in Worship: September 15, 2024

Seventeenth Sunday After Pentecost

Last week in worship, we discussed how God calls us to keep our faith alive by participating in Christ's good work all around us. Each member in the body of Christ has time, talents, and treasures we can offer to reflect the Glory of God. This week, we ask ourselves how we might best teach those around us what we have learned from Jesus. Could our words, mouths, and tongues be a help or a hinderance? Join us this Sunday as we open ourselves to the Spirit's wisdom about how we might best share God's Good News with a world that so desperately needs to hear it.

Come share the Peace of Christ with coffee and fellowship before worship, beginning at 9:30 in the Parlor! All are welcome; hope to see you there!

Sunday's Scripture:

Isaiah 50:4-9a, NRSV

James 3:1-12, NRSV

Sermon Title:

"Teaching & Taming"

The Pumpkin Patch grand opening will be the next day on Sunday, September 29 at 11:00 am after worship.

All sales goes to support our children and youth ministry, such as helping to send our youth to the Montreat Youth Conference. Volunteer Spotlight: Communion Preparers

Service is a central part of the communal life of faith at CHPC. It takes a village of volunteers to help make the various ministries of our church family happen week in and week out. If you are already volunteering in a meaningful way, THANK YOU!!! If you are looking for a new way to serve, check out how below as we share various opportunities throughout the month of September.

This week, we want to highlight a simple yet meaningful way to help serve the congregation by preparing communion for the congregation at Christ's table. It's an important element of our shared faith that members of all ages can participate in. Please contact Amanda Livingston by email if you are willing to help once a few times each year. Thank you for prayerfully considering where God is calling you to serve!
