Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that
values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,
you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.
We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers, and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Thank You For Supporting Cents-ability!
Thanks to your support, Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church raised $5,874.33 for Cents-Ability in 2024! Through these generous gifts, we were able to provide food to those in need both in our area and around the world.
The primary service of Cents-Ability is to provide food for the CHPC Blessing Box. But there have been many food-related needs that we have been able to quickly respond to through this fund. This year, we supported food initiatives including summer meals for Girls Inc., food for Kitchen of Hope, requests from the community Care Portal, and sending meals to Sierra Leone through Rise Against Hunger. As we step into 2025, many individuals continue to face food insecurity. We deeply appreciate your unwavering dedication to addressing these needs!
“Find out how much God has given you, and from it, take what you need. The remainder which you do not need is needed by others. The superficialities of the rich are the necessities of the poor. Those who retain what is superfluous possess the goods of others.” — St. Augustine
In Gratitude,

The Session has called a congregational meeting after worship this Sunday for the purpose of: 1) reviewing the 2024 financials, 2) receiving the approved budget for 2025, 3) approving the Pastor's annual Terms of Call, and 4) to approve the nomination of Amylyn Crawford-Thornton as an Elder in the class of 2025. Please make sure to thank Amylyn after the meeting for accepting this call to serve in ministry at this time!
Don't forget about our annual worship volunteer training happening after service this Sunday at 11:30 am. All are welcome to join us downstairs in the youth center to enjoy a box lunch while discussing the various volunteer opportunities offered each Sunday. Come and learn the in's and out's of serving as a liturgist, usher, communion preparer, and even some of the theology about why we worship the way we do. Please contact David if you plan to attend so we may ensure there is always enough to go around.

CHPC ordained and installed a new class of Elders last week in worship. This dedicated group joins the other eight elders already installed on the Session to serve as the spiritual leaders of our church family.
Special thanks to: Karen Bennett, Mark Bland, John Filippone, Jason Fletcher, Emily Hutchins, and Terri Marcum for accepting Christ's call to love and serve in this important way! Please hold this group and the entire Session in your prayers for the year ahead as they seek to faithfully follow where God's Spirit leads.

Your Session met Monday night and welcomed the new class of elders. Due to schedule changes, part of the meeting was dedicated to leadership training which will continue on Saturday, January 25. During the business portion of our meeting, the Session ratified email votes on the purchase of an industrial refrigerator for the kitchen and the approval to raise funds to support the faith build of Habitat for Humanity. Additional business included scheduling Scout Sunday on February 9 and allocating any surplus from the 2024 Budget to the Reserve Fund and local Missions Fund. The next stated session meeting will be on Monday, February 17 at 5:30 pm.
In Christ,
- Chris Broadhead (Clerk) & David Randolph (Moderator)

Support Habitat For Humanity's
Annual Faith Build
| |
CHPC is participating in the 2025 Habitat Faith Build to help Matt, his daughter and granddaughter build a new home. The build site is located at 1601 E. Sevier Avenue in Kingsport. There are several ways you can support Habitat - with prayers, financial gifts, or service! We currently have $765 so far and would like to raise an additional $4,235 for a total support of $5,000. We also need 8 volunteers to work on the house for each of the following dates: February 25, 26, 28 and March 1. Projects include: blocking for cabinets, installation of attic ladder, attic flooring, outside corner eave "bird boxes", and daily cleanup of the work site. Volunteers can sign up on the schedule located in the Narthex or by calling the church office. All volunteers will need to complete this waiver to participate in the build. Thanks for your support turning this house into a home!
Come Game and Soup with Us!
Join us for a Soup & Bowl Sunday night of games on February 16th! Our board game night will kick off at 5 pm, so bring a game to play with others. Dinner will also be a chili and/or soup competition, so be sure to bring your favorite winter chili, warm soup dish, side of bread, or favorite dessert to share. We will be voting on our favorites, so a pro tip for you: bring your own muffin tray so you can sample them all!
Blessing Box Highlight: January
Thank you so much for your support and stewardship of our Blessing Box! Because of your kindness, there are many people in our community who are being served with food and other necessities. For the month of January, we would like to emphasize the collection of can goods to warm the hearts and souls of our neighbors in need. Hearty soups are most welcome!
As a reminder, there are always collection boxes in the narthex for you to conveniently place donations. Please donate whatever you can, either from the list or items you think people in our community would see as a Blessing!
Thanks again for all you do to Love our Neighbors,
Your Missions Committee
