Fall Festival This Saturday!
|
|
Hey folks! We are less than two weeks into our Pumpkin Patch, and I don’t know about you, but this ministry has definitely exceeded all of my expectations! The greatest surprise for me is how much more than just a fundraiser this Pumpkin Patch truly is. It has been a way for us to come together as a church family in a brand new way. It has been an avenue through which we have welcomed our neighbors and let them know we care about them. And it has been such a fun way to raise some funds in support of our children's and youth ministries!
I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has signed up to volunteer in the patch. And big thanks to those who have stopped by and bought pumpkins for themselves and their friends! I am so glad that our church can enjoy the pumpkin patch as much as our community can! None of this would be possible without your support, so thank you to everyone who has signed up to volunteer at one of our community outreach events!
I am so excited for the Fall Festival this Saturday and I hope that you can make it there from 12-4.
Please don't forget there are still chances to sign up and help out, so please feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to help this Saturday. I believe these events and our pumpkin patch has brought a boost of energy into our church. And it is my hope that our entire church family will serve alongside one another and feel this energy for themselves!
Let’s love our neighbors and love one another well, in word and in deed.

The Blessings of Stewardship Sunday!
Worship this Sunday will be a special service in the life of CHPC! We will be celebrating a baptism, coming to the table for communion, and prayerfully responding to this year's stewardship campaign. Thank you for prayerfully considering how God is calling you to support our church family as we seek to be a blessing to all! If you have any financial questions, please contact Sarah Johnson at finance@chpres.org.

The first CHPC Appalachia Service Project (ASP) mission trip was a grand success last weekend. Four of our untrained, marginally skilled church members ventured up to Lee County, VA to spend a couple of days working with ASP to help make a family’s home accessible. ASP is a relational ministry that has been working throughout Appalachia to help make homes warmer, safer and drier for over 50 years. Our CHPC team was able to spend time together while building part of an extensive wheelchair ramp. There was laughing, head scratching, and learning as hard tasks were tackled. (5 degree angles were no match for skilled new friends from other churches and speed squares!) Sharing meals and hearing stories on the history of Lee County while rocking in the chairs on the Jonesville Center porch were also a delightful part of the weekend adventure. The whole team agreed it was a wonderful experience. There is hope that it was the first of many trips our church family can participate in to continue to show love to our neighbors and live in community. We invite you to ask us more about our experience and hope you will join us next time!

CHPC celebrates All Saints' Sunday on November 6 as we remember members of our congregation and/or immediate family members who have passed away during the previous year. If you have an immediate member of your family (spouse, brother, sister, mother, father, grandparent) that have passed away since November 1, 2021, please call the church office with your loved one’s name by Wednesday, November 2.
The Women's Ministry wants to remind you about the Shoebox Celebration. November 6 at 2pm is the cut off date for boxes to be turned in and prayed over as they head out to Bless Children all over the world.
The Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is providing aid to address the humanitarian crisis created by the war in Ukraine. You can learn more about their important work here. If you feel called to contribute financially, please do so through PDA's giving portal here.
All items for the weekly online newsletter should be emailed to Mary at office@chpres.org by end of business on Tuesday.
