Excited For Our Newest Pumpkin Patch Event!

We are excited to announce a new event as part of this year's Pumpkin Patch - Get your paws ready for a Blessing of the Animals service that will be held on October 26, the last Sunday of the month! All are invited to bring your beloved animal companion out to the patch at 5:00 pm. We will have a small treat for them and will pray a blessing over our church family's sweet creatures. A drive-thru blessing will be available until 6:00 pm for those furry friends who might be anxious to get too close to other animals or all these large pumpkins. Please save the date and spread the word throughout our community. We hope to see all God's creatures in the Patch!

Dreams For The Future

From Mark Bland, your Mission Committee elder:

I would like to say I have the ability to interpret dreams the way Joseph did, but I can’t. God has not given me that ability...yet! But God has given me the ability to consciously dream about our church and what we, collectively can do to realize His Kingdom today.

I think about what our church is doing currently; such as Sleep In Heavenly Peace, for children to have a bed of their own and not have to sleep on the floor. Hosting a blood drive, which helps the critical need that is present in our hospitals. Rise Against Hunger, to feed communities overseas. A new ministry The Care Portal, that provides household supplies in our area that are often things collecting dust in our basements. Or a food voucher to assist our neighbors. The Blessing Box, that provides a little sustenance or a toothbrush. The Thanksgiving and Christmas box ministry and the Angel Tree ministry.

I also think about my dream of little children growing up in a church family to learn who God is and what God's dreams are for us and our church community. Thanks to Tyler and the children’s church volunteers in leading that effort.  And I think of the many more things our church does that I can't even name today. Those were all dreams of someone's that have come to pass.

You, as members of CHPC may have new dreams to share in your abundance, just as Joseph did in Egypt to help in realizing God’s Kingdom for our community and the world. And as a bonus to putting those dreams in action, there is the opportunity to fellowship and have some fun too. So, I would like for you to prayerfully consider what God has given you the ability to enhance His Kingdom through the mission of CHPC!

Stewardship Packets are available in the narthex as our church family collectively dreams about how we can help realize the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven. Stewardship Sunday will be October 19 and pledge cards may be returned at any time to Sarah Johnson in the office. Like Joseph, God is with us and empowers us to share God's steadfast love. Thank you for prayerfully discerning how our gifts may help lift up others out of the pit!

Our Pumpkin Patch Needs Your Help!

Throughout the month of October, CHPC's Pumpkin Patch is open daily from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Volunteer's are needed to help make this ministry happen and sign up sheets are located in the Narthex. Time slots are available in two hour increments and there are plenty of slots still available. This is a wonderful time to sit and meet new people or to spend time together as a family of faith. Please be sure to sign up now so that we can ensure each day is covered as we connect with our community and welcome them to the church. Thank you for your support!

Pumpkin Patch Events Happening Soon

Our Fall Festival is right around the corner! Please be sure to join us on Saturday, October 18 from 11am-2pm for a fun time outside! We need as much help as we can get to ensure that this event is a success, so please sign up to serve if you have not already done so and a big thank you to those who already have. Sign up sheets are in the Narthex or you can talk to Tyler Paulsen or anyone on CFL. And be sure to spread the word by inviting others to join us for all the fun there is to be had in CHPC's Pumpkin Patch!

Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church partners with Marsh Regional Blood Center for another Blood Drive on Sunday, October 19 from 11am-3pm. Reservations are encouraged and participants can contact the Church Office prior to the event to schedule an appointment. Please note, if you have provided a blood donation after August 25, you cannot participate in this event. Contact Mike Strickler with any questions.

Don't forget that our Trunk or Treat at the end of the month will be here before we know it! Please plan to come and decorate your trunk on Saturday, October 25 from 5-6pm. We will also begin collecting Halloween candy for this event. Baskets will be labeled and in the Narthex on Sunday mornings. Please let Tyler Paulsen or Ann Johnson know if you would like to decorate a trunk to share treats with the over 400 visitors who stop by each year!

Serving Our Neighbors Through Care Portal

What a blessing it was to be able to serve these families in Sullivan County last month in September! We cannot wait to see what God is able to do through our mission crew here at CHPC in the coming months. Thank you for making missions a priority for our church family and may God's Spirit continue to guide us to be the hands and feet of Christ in God's world.
