A Service of Music and Reflection on the Reformation
|
|
This Sunday is Reformation Sunday at CHPC as we celebrate the Holy Spirit's ongoing work within the church and our Presbyterian tradition. Come and enjoy a special musical service as we reflect on the history and presence of the Reformation, the political and religious movement that swept through Europe in the 16th century. Children are invited to stay within worship this week while the nursery will still be available for our littlest presbyterians.

|
Sunday's Scripture:
Psalm 48, NRSV
Jeremiah 31:31-34, NRSV
Romans 3:19-28, CEB

All Saints Sunday on November 6
|
|
All Saints' Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday, November 6 as we remember members of our congregation and/or immediate family members who have passed away during the previous year.
If you have an immediate member of your family (spouse, brother, sister, mother, father, grandparent) that have passed away since November 1, 2021, please call or email the church office with your loved one’s name by Wednesday, November 2.

The flowers in the sanctuary are placed in memory of E. Joe Smith by Jane Smith and family.
Thank you for prayerfully considering how God is calling you to participate in this year's stewardship season. God certainly has given us many blessings and we wish to faithfully minister to be a blessing for others in God's name. Additional stewardship packets are available and any pledge cards or time and talent surveys can be returned to the front office. If you have any financial questions, please contact Sarah Johnson at finance@chpres.org.
The Pumpkin Patch continues to be open daily from 11am to 7pm through October 31. We are down to just a small amount of pumpkins of the 900 we started with at the beginning of the month. Thank you for your support and spreading the word!
Youth Group meets this Sunday night from 5-7 in the Pumpkin Patch! Dinner is provided, but bring a chair and wear warm clothes!
The Youth Meal Train needs volunteers! The entire church is invited to love our youth group by providing meals during Sunday night programming. Please sign up to bring a meal to support this important ministry. Contact Tyler to learn more or sign up here.
The Women's Ministry wants to remind you about the Shoebox Celebration. November 6 at 2pm is the cut off date for boxes to be turned in and prayed over as they head out to Bless Children all over the world.
CHPC is partnering again to provide Thanksgiving boxes with Colonial Heights Christian Church (CHCC) for local families in need. Members of our Church will provide the side dishes and CHCC will provide the meat, likely chicken as there is a shortage of turkeys this year. Please pick up a Suggestion Card, and if needed a box, from the parlor to begin filling your donation. Sunday, November 6, & 13 boxes will be available, but if able, please supply your own box and ensure there is enough room to add a chicken. Completed boxes will be collected by Sunday, November 20 to be delivered to CHCC after worship. You may also drop your box off at the church any time prior to November 20. Thank you for participating in this community need!
Martha's Circle meets on November 8 at 10:30am Join this group for Bible study, Friendship and Mission projects. Contact Lois Bronson with any questions.
All items for the weekly online newsletter should be emailed to Mary at office@chpres.org by end of business on Tuesday.
