We have an exciting weekend in store!
Join us for our Kids Christmas Event this Saturday, December 7 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm! We are going to put the Advent in Adventure and have a Christmas Party for our Church and Day School kids! Children up to 5th grade are invited to join us for all the fun and a nursery for infants will be available as well. We will enjoy a short seasonal film, play some games, enjoy some crafts, eat lunch, and have lots of holiday fun!
Parents, please take advantage of a morning kid-free at the beginning of the month before the Holiday season gets too busy! The CHPC Youth Group are also invited to come, to enjoy fun and games as well, and to help serve our church family in this special way. Contact Tyler Paulsen for questions or to sign your child up! Volunteers are still needed to make this event possible, so if you would like to partake in this event, please let Tyler know!

Angel Tree for SMILE Foster Closet
and our CHPC Teachers!
| |
Don't forget that donations for our Angel Tree Program are due today at noon! We will be transporting all the donated gifts to SMILE Foster Closet to support foster children in the Washington County community. They will be opening these presents this weekend.
Gifts for these foster children are to be brought unwrapped, placed in a gift bag, and returned back under the tree with the angel tag placed with the gift. Instructions sheets are also under the tree. Thank you for supporting this annual missional tradition of our church family!
| |
This year we are also supporting the active teachers of our congregation by placing their classrooms on the Angel Tree as well! For those who have chosen a teacher from the Angel Tree, please return teacher angels by this Sunday, December 8.
Women's Ministry Christmas Celebration!
The Women's Ministry hosts a Christmas Event on Sunday, December 15 at 2:00 pm in the gym complete with a White Elephant gift exchange! Please bring a gift that is used, created, or new (10 dollars or less) to share. Additionally, let's add to the holiday cheer by bringing a favorite finger food or dessert to share. This gathering's missional support is for the Blessing Box and all are encouraged to bring an item to stock the box for those in need. Speak with Teresa Strickler or Ramona Wise to learn more.

Celebration of New Members and Baptism
We are overjoyed to welcome the Dimas Family--Carlos, Scarlett, Juliette, Alessandra, and Joshua--into the life of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church! This past Sunday was extra special, as we were privileged to celebrate Joshua's baptism in morning worship. Be sure to keep Joshua in your prayers during this exciting new season as he enters into this new stage in his life of faith. And be sure to offer this wonderful family warm words of welcome as they join in on the rhythms of life within our church!

Presbytery Response to Hurricane Helene
With winter approaching and the holidays on the horizon, your help is needed now more than ever! For those affected by Hurricane Helene, the cold months ahead will provide new challenges as they work to rebuild their homes, communities, and lives. Volunteer support is crucial for Northeast TN to recover and there are still so many opportunities to serve. Consider taking a shift over the Thanksgiving holiday to help spread a little cheer and a lot of love to those in need.
Thank you for all the ways you have and continue to serve as the Body of Christ to care for our neighbors in need. Below are a few opportunities for you to consider supporting:
-
Bristol Motor Speedway continues to operate the Northeast TN Disaster Relief Center. Volunteers are needed daily to help in the warehouse for a variety of needs. To find out more and sign up for a shift click here.
-
Appalachian Service Project needs volunteers to help with home repairs, muck-outs, rebuilds, and more. For those not interested in construction, they also need help with office tasks such as sorting envelopes, answering phones, data entry, and other administrative tasks. For more information and to sign up click here.
-
Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Jonesborough needs volunteers to continue sorting and distributing donations. For more information and to sign up for a shift, click here.
-
Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Carter County needs skilled laborers to hang and finish drywall, as well help with Hurricane Helene roof repairs. Volunteers must have their own transportation and wear appropriate PPE. For more information and to sign up for a shift, click here.
While these are a few of this week's most pressing needs, there are still hundreds of shifts available with dozens of agencies on Volunteer United.
Please visit www.volunteer-united.org to sign up for a shift (or two). Remember, you can also volunteer as a team with friends, family, co-workers or church groups! Simply create an account, then enter the email address of those you want to volunteer with. They will receive an email prompting them to create an account if they don't already have one. For help creating an account, visit www.volunteer-united.org/portal/landing
If you have any questions or need help, email volunteer@uwaykpt.org or call 423.251.4563 Thanks again for being part of Volunteer United!

The Youth Group will meet this Sunday from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. Join us as we eat together, have some fun, and study the bible!
Sunday School Classes will resume next week, December 15 at 11:15 am to discuss the most recent chapter of the Advent study book. The Disciples Class meets in room 218 and the Remnant Class meets in room 221.
The Session has called a congregational meeting at the close of worship on December 15 to approve the selection of an Elder for the class of 2026.
Thank you to all who ordered poinsettias as part of the CHPC Christmas Memorial Gifts program. All names will be printed in the bulletin on Sunday, December 22 and any poinsettias may be picked up after the Christmas Eve service. Monetary contributions may still be offered through December 15 and will go to support the church's renovation fund.
Are you interested in serving during Sunday worship? A worship volunteer training is scheduled on Sunday, January 12 after Sunday School at noon for anyone interested in serving as a liturgist, usher, or communion preparer. Lunch will be provided for all those who attend. Please let David know you’re interested in serving.
It’s not too late to return the annual Time & Talent survey to share how God is calling you to serve in the new year. Additional surveys are in the Narthex. Thank you for your willingness to volunteer and support the ministry of this church family!
Thank you for prayerfully considering how God has "Called" us to minister as a church family in the upcoming year. Additional stewardship packets are available in the Narthex and any financial questions may be addressed to Sarah Johnson in the office.
All items for the weekly online newsletter should be emailed to Mary at office@chpres.org by noon on Wednesday.
