This Week in Worship: Wednesday, December 24

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 5:30 pm

All are welcome to celebrate the birth of our Savior on Christmas Eve at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church! We hope you and your loved ones will join us on this most holy night as we worship again with the angels and the shepherds out in the darkness with a candlelight worship service. Decaf coffee and hot chocolate will be available before worship in the narthex and parlor. Please invite your family and friends to attend as well by sharing our facebook event here. See you this coming Wednesday night at 5:30 pm!

Christmas Eve Missional Opportunity

The Missions Ministry Team will be accepting donations on Christmas Eve for our ministry partner Sleep in Heavenly Peace. We are proud to help them support children in our community who do not have a place to lay their head like our Lord and Savior long ago. We will accept new sets of twin sheets (normal size) and new pillows. Additionally, continued food donations for CHPC's Blessing Box are also appreciated for those who wish to ensure no one goes hungry in our neighborhood either. Please place any donations under the Chrismon Tree in the sanctuary. Thank you for your willingness to help shine the light of hope in our own community!

Lessons & Carols & Pageants, Oh My!

Last Sunday's Service of Lessons and Carols was such a marvelous moment of worship to share! It was wonderful celebrating the coming of Emmanuel, God-with-us, as we collectively raised our voices to sing of good news of great joy for all people. And the Children's Christmas Pageant was the greatest gift of all! These kiddos really shared the hope, peace, joy and love of this Advent season. Thank you to our children, many volunteers, and dedicated musical staff who worked so hard to make this special service possible!

This Sunday in Worship: December 28, 2025

First Sunday of Christmas

Sunday's Scripture:

Isaiah 52:7-10, NRSV

Hebrews 1:1-12, NRSV

Sunday's Sermon:

"Always winter but never Christmas?"

This coming Sunday kicks off a new sermon series focusing on "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis. Our first stop in this magical land happens right at Christmas as winter's defeat is imminent. All are welcome to explore this strange new land as we look to the story of "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" and reflect upon the themes of hope, resurrection, and new life. For anyone who may wish to read along with us each week, below are the dates for future books:

  • January 4 - Prince Caspian
  • January 11 - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
  • January 18 - The Silver Chair
  • February 1 - The Horse and His Boy
  • February 8 - The Magician's Nephew
  • February 15 - The Last Battle

Both the Disciples and Remnant Sunday School classes combine for a special congregational class as part of this Narnia sermon series. All are welcome to join us downstairs in the youth room at 11:15 am for a lively discussion about the scripture passages and the themes present within The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Please speak with David to learn more about this or any other faith formation opportunity.

And Don't Forget About Next Week's

News Year's Eve Celebration!!!

All are welcome to ring in the New Year with a celebration on Wednesday, December 31 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the gym. We will travel across the pond together to usher in 2026 with our friends from Paris! Members are encouraged to bring a finger food or sweet treat to share. Additionally, please bring your favorite board game to play.

Save the Date for Next Year's Annual Training

Did you know that it takes over 30 people to make worship happen on any given Sunday at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church? There are volunteers greeting, ushering, singing, praying, reading, preparing communion, playing with kids, and even ringing a bell too! Are you willing to help? CHPC's annual worship volunteer training is scheduled for Sunday, January 18 and all individuals who desire to serve in any way are encouraged to attend! Lunch will be provided so please let David know you plan to join us.
