Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers,

and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

It's Time to Ring in the New Year!

It's time to make the dream of celebrating New Years Eve happen at a decent and orderly hour, as CHPC celebrates the holiday with our friends in Paris! All are welcome to join us this Wednesday, December 31, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the gym. Please bring your favorite snack to share and your favorite game to enjoy with old and new friends. The ball drops at 6:00 pm.

This Sunday in Worship: January 4, 2026

Epiphany Sunday + Star Words

It may almost be a New Year but the Season of Christmas continues at CHPC as we celebrate Epiphany this coming Sunday! Epiphany is the liturgical feast day when the church remembers the magi visiting the Christ-child. A bright star in the sky guided their way to Bethlehem to honor our newborn king. What bright star guides our lives in this new year?

All are welcome to share the Peace of Christ with coffee and fellowship at 9:30 am in the Parlor before worship begins at 10:00 am in the Sanctuary.

Hope to see you there and invite a friend to tag along!

Sunday's Scripture:

Psalm 72:1-7, 12-14, 18-19, NRSV

Matthew 2:1-15, NRSV

Sunday's Sermon:

"The True King"

This week's service looks to the example of C. S. Lewis's book, "Prince Caspian" from the Chronicles of Narnia as an illustration of Christ's light in the world. Let us pay attention to what God illuminates before us and how we might faithfully follow Christ our true King!

Both the Disciples and Remnant Sunday School classes combine for a special congregational class as part of this Narnia sermon series. All are welcome to join us downstairs in the youth room at 11:15 am for a lively discussion about the scripture passages and the themes present within Prince Caspian. Please speak with David to learn more about this intergenerational conversation or any other faith formation opportunity.

For anyone who may wish to read along with us each week, below are the dates for future books:

  • January 11 - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
  • January 18 - The Silver Chair
  • February 1 - The Horse and His Boy
  • February 8 - The Magician's Nephew
  • February 15 - The Last Battle

Parents - Please note this week we are excited for our kiddos to have a special time as a part of worship before heading downstairs for children's church. Please thank them in advance for their help as we share Christ's light with the congregation!

Last Week in Worship:

First Sunday of Christmas & Christmas Eve

There was certainly a lot of hope, peace, joy, and love to share in worship over the past seven plus days at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church! Check out the links below to hear and see of this Good News of great joy for all people!

Well, our first service in this series about the Chronicles of Narnia broke the internet! No actually it just caused a technical problem with our livestream which is why some people were unable to worship with us. Sorry about that! Please check out the link below to worship with us again or for the first time from this magical land of Narnia. May the light of God's Good News give us hope that winter's defeat is at hand!

We had such a lovely candlelight service on Christmas Eve at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church! Thank you to all who celebrated the birth of Christ with us. Click below to worship with us again anytime to return to the manger and celebrate the birth of Christ the newborn King!

And an extra special thanks to all who helped kick off the last week with our Lessons and Carols and Christmas Pageant! Click below to make a joyful noise with us again after such a special service.

Celebrating Christmas with CHPC's Youth Group

Our Youth Group party two Sundays ago summed up how Youth Group has gone for this entire past year: loud, fun, full of laughter and good food! We had a great time over at our generous pastor's home, thanks again to the whole Randolph family for hosting, feeding, and entertaining us! And thanks to our youth who came and brought the Christmas cheer with them. We look forward to all that God has in store for us in the new year! Merry Christmas from the youth group!!!

Check out more pictures documenting all the fun here on facebook.

The Youth Group resumes their regular Bible study fellowship this Sunday, January 4 at 5:00 pm in the youth center. All are welcome to begin this new year building community together. Please contact Tyler to learn more on how to get involved with this meaningful ministry.

Are you willing to help? CHPC's annual worship volunteer training is scheduled for Sunday, January 18 and all individuals who desire to serve in any way are encouraged to attend! Lunch will be provided so please let David know you plan to join us.
