Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers, and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Holy Week Is Just Around The Corner!

In ten days, we again experience the many emotions associated with the palms, the passion, and the resurrection! This is but one of the reasons our church family offered our recent Sunday Night Lenten Suppers which focused on the Psalms of Holy Week. These powerful pieces of poetry help us to better recognize and even express the many feelings present throughout this familiar story of joy and hope, despair and grief, confusion and anger, grace and love.

All are welcome to join us for our Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service in the sanctuary on April 2 at 7: 30 pm. We will enjoy a contemplative time of worship filled with scripture, communion, and prayer as we walk with Christ from the Last Supper to the Tomb.

Things kick off on Easter Sunday, April 5, with a "Sunrise Service" at 8:15 am centered around the communion table. This thirty minute outdoor service under the big oak tree grounds us in the glorious revelation of Christ's resurrection as we give thanks for this greatest gift of grace. The annual Easter Egg Hunt follows at 9:15 am and absolutely everyone is invited! Children can enjoy two rounds of egg hunting and candy, and adults can enjoy multiple cups of coffee and even your favorite sweet treat! Help is needed to make this an egg-cellent time for all. Candy donations are much appreciated to make this fun tradition happen and we hope to have even more children this year! Please drop off any donations in the Narthex. No nuts please. Members of the congregation are also encouraged to bring both sweet and savory items to share during this time of fellowship so we have a great balance for everyone to enjoy! Please sign up to bring your favorite Easter Snack in the Narthex or speak with a member the CFL committee if you have any questions.

Things move inside at 9:30 am for our regular time of fellowship in the narthex and parlor. Our Easter Sunday worship service will be held in the Sanctuary at 10:00 am and will be livestreamed on youtube. Please spread the word and invite your family and friends as we give thanks for the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Any monetary contributions to the Renovation Fund should be given by March, 29. Please speak with a member of the worship committee with any questions.

The Children's Choir offered a beautiful song to kick off worship last week! Thank you to our kiddos, their folks, and our teachers Jean Fletcher and Laura Wicker for making that joyful noise happen! Children's choir practice returns after worship this week in the Children's Connection room. CHPC's "Kids Club" continues after choir practice while their adults participate in Sunday School until noon. Please speak with Tyler if your child plans to attend and spread the word about this new church activity!

March Session Summary

Your Session met on Monday, March 16 for our regularly stated meeting. A devotional and prayer were led by Elder Karen Bennett followed by approval of minutes and receipt of committee reports. The Campus Improvement Committee's architectural vision for the future of CHPC's facility was formally received and special thanks given to the members of this committee for their hard work over the past two years. The committee was formally dissolved and a time to share more information with the congregation will be scheduled for a date after Easter. CHPC has agreed to host a local piano studio for their spring recital on Sunday, April 12 in the Sanctuary. The next stated Session meeting will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 5:30 pm in room 221.

In Christ,

Cari Parker (Clerk of Session, Pro Temp) & David Randolph (Moderator)

Please Note On Sunday Mornings

Starting this Sunday, the steeple entrance (the main entrance past the big oak tree) will be locked after worship begins to enhance safety. This was approved by Session along with steps to make sure our wonderful ushers and elders in charge monitor this entrance to make sure we continue to welcome any worshippers who may come to the door after service begins.

Stand Up With Rise Against Hunger!

Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church hosts another Rise Against Hunger meal packing event on Sunday, April 12 as part of our Lenten discipline as a church family. All are welcome to join us for a short communion service at 10:00 am in the Sanctuary before we go downstairs to the gym to pack 16,750 meals in two hours. There are many different ways to serve during this event, from sitting down to count supplies, all the way to standing up to pack boxes. Please come and help us be the hands and feet of Jesus to the world!

It's amazing to see how the congregation is getting excited to serve in this special way. Our fundraising goal is to raise almost $7000 and we are half way there! All donations above our goal will go to address food insecurity here at home through the work of Meals on Wheels of Colonial Heights. Please speak with Karen Dale or any member of the Missions Committee to learn more about how you can help!
