Rise Against Hunger + Second Sunday of Easter
| | |
| All are invited to participate in this Sunday's Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing Event at CHPC! After a brief communion service in the sanctuary at 10:00 am, we will go down to the gym to share the Bread of Life with the world by packing almost 17,000 meals to help those in need. Please wear comfortable clothes as we will be working together for about two and a half hours. We will pour in rice and other food items, seal the bags, pack them in boxes, and load them onto a truck. There are many different ways to serve during this event, from sitting down to counting supplies, all the way to standing up to pack boxes. Please invite your friends and family to come help us be the hands and feet of the risen body of Christ to the world! | | Learn more about this event by checking out the facebook event below and register online by using the second link. Please spread the word about this great service opportunity and see you Sunday! | | He is risen, indeed! While it was still dark and wet outside last Sunday morning, we gave thanks for being able to celebrate inside in the light of the church as we joyfully proclaimed like Mary Magdalene, “I have seen the Lord!” Thank you to all who worshiped with us in various ways at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church this past Easter. Our kiddos had a great time hunting eggs in the gym and the congregation enjoyed a wonderful service in celebration of Christ's resurrection! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped to hide eggs, bring food, welcome visitors, sing songs, lead worship, and so much more! Photos from this joyful day can be found below on facebook, and we welcome others adding more of their own as we give thanks that the light of the world has come. The tomb is empty; Christ is risen! | | Spring Youth Group Update | | |
Things for the CHPC Youth Group continue to be full of life, fun, and excitement! As we approach the end of the school year, we still have plenty left on our Spring schedule that our entire church family ought to be aware of. Our mid-week Lenten gatherings have been such a wild success that we will be continuing to have them throughout the months of April & May! All youth are invited to join us from 6-7 downstairs in the Youth Center for dinner and hangout/games. Our group hits the road on Sunday, April 12 for a progressive dinner! We will meet at the church at 5pm and hop into a van to travel to three wonderful church member homes for food, hospitality, and fellowship! Youth will last a little longer that evening, plan on pickup back at the church at 8pm. A huge word of gratitude to those who are hosting and cooking for us!
Our every semester Youth Homework & Study Party will take place on Sunday, April 26. That night we will go from 5-6:30 like normal, but please bring your books, homework, laptops, and any other study materials you may need to have a productive time preparing for finals or finishing up those last assignments of the school year! We'll bring the food, you do the (home)work! We kick off the month of May in style by joining the rest of CHPC up in the mountains at Holston Camp & Retreat Center for the All Church Retreat! We won't meet that Sunday afterwards, spend that time recovering from a fun and full weekend! Our Youth Group will celebrate the end of the semester by crafting and leading our Youth Sunday service in morning worship on Sunday, May 24. Please plan on attending and hearing from our youth what you as a faith community have meant to the lives of these students. Finally, we will celebrate the success of all our hard work preparing the Youth Sunday service by having a Youth Lock-In on Friday, May, 29. Please pray for me and any volunteer silly enough to agree to stay up all night with a bunch of rowdy teenagers.
We have a truly special group of young people who bring such joy and hope to me. If you would like to join in on the fun and wonderful benefits of spending time with these kids, please talk to me about being a youth volunteer. Or if you would like to support and serve this crew by providing a meal, follow the link here. And lastly, I would please ask you to pray for this group of kids, especially our seniors as they wrap up their time in high school and begin to prepare for what God has in store for them in the fall. Thank you for supporting, uplifting, and loving these kids.
With all appreciation and sincerity,
Tyler P.
