Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers,

and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Thank You For Supporting Rise Against Hunger!

Thank you to everyone who came out to share the Bread of Life from our table to other tables across the world during last Sunday's Rise Against Hunger worship service and food packing event! It was such a fun time to work with one another as the Body of Christ in order to make a difference in the fight against hunger. Thank you for making it possible for our church family to share 16,750 meals with those who still unfortunately struggle to receive their daily bread. We will share where these gifts of God's love are headed later this year when the meals are shipped overseas to help those in need.

This Sunday in Worship:

Third Sunday of Easter + April 19, 2026

This Sunday, we return to the book of John to see how the glory of Easter morning illuminates the darkness of the rooms we still lock ourselves in like the Disciples. What burdens, fears, and doubts do we need to acknowledge in the light of God's love now that Christ has risen? All are welcome to worship with us as we walk alongside our twin Thomas to touch the wounds of our crucified Lord and Savior.

Sunday's Scripture:

Psalm 16, NRSV

John 20:19-31, NRSV

Sermon Title:

"Didymus"

Wish to worship with us again or another time during the week?

Click below to view last week's communion service on John 6 or any others on our youtube channel.

The Flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God in loving memory of Minerva Sexton and Leigh Ann Harless from Arnold Sexton.

Children's Choir practice continues this week after worship at 11:15 am. All kiddos ages 3-11 are welcome to come sing and play! Please contact Jean Fletcher or Laura Wicker for details or to learn how to get involved.

CHPC's "Kids Club" continues after choir practice in the Children's Connection Room while their adults participate in Sunday School until noon. Please speak with Tyler if your child plans to attend and keep spreading the word about this wonderful church activity for our kiddos!

Adult Sunday School Classes continue after worship at 11:15 am. The Disciples Class meets in room 218 and the Remnant Class meets in room 221. Please speak with David to learn more about either group or how you can get further involved in various adult discipleship opportunities.

And Don't Forget About Sunday's Blood Drive!

Remember that CHPC partners with Marsh Regional Blood Center this Sunday and slots are still available from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This is an amazing way to give back in celebration of Christ's Resurrection on Easter! Thank you for helping to share the gift of life in this most meaningful way!

Save the date for another "A Good Death" workshop on Saturday, May 16. This "Resurrection Edition" will be similar to the event last November and include multiple speakers from various disciplines. The conversations will cover topics of theology, funerals, grief, hospice care, medical directives, estate planning, and more. The greatest goal of the day is to demystify the subject of death in a way that allows us to approach it with grace and love instead of fear. Please speak with David to learn more and to RSVP. Family and friends are most welcome, so please spread the word to those who might be interested in joining us for this important conversation.

The Women's Ministry heads to Montreat this summer for the annual Women's Connection Conference from August 14-16. The cost is $252 and $25 for food. Lodging is provided by our friends at First Presbyterian Church, Kingsport. The keynote speaker is Kristin Kobes Du Mez, author of the New York Times bestseller, Jesus and John Wayne. Learn more about this event here from Montreat's website and register as a commuter here. Please let Gretchen Bentley or Lisa Pecorini know to reserve you a room for this wonderful weekend!

Please be advised that there was another phishing email this week involving someone pretending to be your pastor asking for gifts cards. This is a scam. While CHPC is a caring, generous, and faithful congregation, there is never a time when anyone associated with our church would need gifts cards in this manner. Please do not respond to any fraudulent email you may have received and remember to contact the church office should you ever have any questions about any church communication.

All items for the weekly online newsletter should be emailed to David by the end of the day on Tuesdays to be included in the next newsletter.
