Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers,

and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Come Worship, Learn, & Grow At Christ's Table!

A special pop-up Bible Study is being offered this Saturday about the Sacrament of Communion at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. We will gather from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Sanctuary to study scripture about the Lord's Supper, discuss the theology of Communion, and even share the sacrament with one another!

All are welcome to participate in this connectional event of our greater church. It is not too late to sign up! Please reach out to David Randolph by clicking the link below or calling the church office at 423.239.9194.

This Sunday in Worship:

Fourth Sunday of Easter + April 26, 2026

This Sunday, we conclude our study of the book of John with the epilogue to this gospel about God's love. The light of the world has indeed come, and the Disciples see the light of the risen Christ again on the beach of all places. How would you respond if you caught a glimpse of the one person you so longed to see again? How might Jesus be asking us to work together to feed Christ's sheep? All are welcome to worship with us as we break bread with our crucified Lord who offers us the Bread of Life when we least expect it.

Sunday's Scripture:

Psalm 23, NRSV

John 21:1-19, NRSV

Sermon Title:

"Feed, Tend, and Follow"

Wish to worship with us again or another time during the week?

April Session Summary

Your Session met on Monday, April 20 for our regularly stated meeting. A devotional and prayer were led by Elder Terri Marcum about how God works even in the absences to bring about warmth, light, life, and love. After discussing Reverend Randolph's request to dissolve his terms of call, the session approved the purchase of a second AC unit for the gym ($29K) with assistance in funding from the Day School (Thank you!), the scheduling of a wedding on July 4, and an updated job description for the Office Administrator. A called Session meeting was set for Monday, May 4 at 6:00 pm and the next stated Session meeting will be held on Monday, May 18 at 5:30 pm in room 221.

In Christ,

Cari Parker (Clerk of Session, Pro Temp) & David Randolph (Moderator)

In Response to Reverend Randolph's Letter

Each session meeting includes a brief moment to share communications officially received by the church. Normally there is nothing to report, and yet this meeting included a letter from our pastor letting us know God was moving in his life in a new way. Your session grieves the disappointing news of saying goodbye to David and the Randolph family while also giving thanks to God for the ministry we've been blessed to do together over the past five years. We appreciate David's desire and drive to do as much as he can to help us faithfully prepare for this new season as a church family. Holston Presbytery is aware of our upcoming transition and the Committee on Ministry is ready to assist us. The chair of the COM will join us at a May session meeting and we look forward to sharing next steps afterwards. In the meantime, we will spend as much time with David and the Randolphs as possible and we look forward to celebrating David's ministry at CHPC. We ask that the congregation prays for our church and our connectional church family at First Presbyterian Church, Huntsville as we all faithfully navigate this change of call together.

Most importantly, your Session, with David’s help, reminds the entire congregation of what we know to be true even in light of this news: "The grass withers and the flower fades, but the Word of our God abides forever and ever." God is always in control, and we are in a strong position to navigate a pastoral change because CHPC has always been God's Church; Jesus, our risen Lord, always meet us in any unexpected darkness like the Disciples on Easter and shines a light of love, saying "Peace be with you"; and the Holy Spirit continues to empower us as the Body of Christ to do good work within the world. And so, we continue to pray together as a family of faith what we have learned: "Lord, we believe; Help our unbelief. In Christ’s name, we pray; Amen."

Please contact Tyler Paulsen if you would like to participate or support this meaningful ministry of our church family. One very important and always needed way you can help is to Click Here to sign up to provide a meal. Thank you for feeding this wonderful group of God's beloved children!

As part of CHPC's Safe Sanctuary Policy, our church family is willingly completing background checks on all volunteers within our youth and children's ministries. Thank you to all who have already participated. Please reach out to Tyler if you would like to complete this background check to serve in either ministry in the future.

Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church prepares for a special children's ministry event each Wednesday night in June from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Volunteer sign ups are available in the narthex. Save the date for another "A Good Death" workshop on Saturday, May 16. This "Resurrection Edition" will be similar to the event last November and include multiple speakers from various disciplines. The conversations will cover topics of theology, funerals, grief, hospice care, medical directives, estate planning, and more. The greatest goal of the day is to demystify the subject of death in a way that allows us to approach it with grace and love instead of fear. Please speak with David to learn more and to RSVP for this educational event. Family and friends are most welcome, so please spread the word to those who might be interested in joining us for this important conversation.

Are you interested in joining Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church? Are you already a member but desire to know more about how to get involved? Please speak with Pastor David if you are interested in learning more about what membership means and if you are interested in participating in the shared ministry of our church family. All are welcome and we mean it!

Please be advised that there was another phishing email last week involving someone pretending to be your pastor asking for gifts cards. This is a scam. While CHPC is a caring, generous, and faithful congregation, there is never a time when anyone associated with our church would need gifts cards in this manner. Please do not respond to any fraudulent email you may have received and remember to contact the church office should you ever have any questions about any church communication.

All items for the weekly online newsletter should be emailed to David by the end of the day on Tuesdays to be included in the next newsletter.
