Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers,

and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

What A Wonderful Way To

Celebrate Our Resurrected Lord!

Christ is risen! Alleluia! He is risen, indeed! We had a terrific Easter Sunday at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. From our outdoor Sunrise Service under the old oak tree, to our egg hunt and time of snack and fellowship in the front courtyard, and of course our Sunday worship service in the Sanctuary, we had a full morning of fun, fellowship, food, and celebration!

It was indeed so good to dwell within the house of the risen Christ this past Easter Sunday. Thank you to all: To the over 170 people who joined us to celebrate the empty tomb; To all our children who came to hunt eggs and receive treat bags; To our youth group who helped hide eggs and pass out treats; To our chefs who brought delicious dishes to share during our time of gathering together in fellowship; To our servants who helped in so many ways to make each service possible; To our singers who shared beautiful songs in worship; To our pastor who brought a meaningful message about the resurrection and how we are invited into the new life of Jesus; Thank you for being part of such an important day of worship!

A t-shirt fundraiser was approved to support the youth going to Montreat. The next stated Session meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 19 at 5:30 pm.

See You This Wednesday

for our Simple Supper Series!

Our Wednesday Night Simple Suppers started this past Wednesday and went great! Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed this intergenerational night of fellowship and fun! These casual gatherings last until May 14 and it's never too late to jump in. Our theme is "Practice Joy" and our focus is on how we as the beloved community of Christ-followers may rejoice in the good work God is doing in our lives. Supper kicks off at 5:30 pm in the gym before various programs begin at 6:00 pm. Children, youth, and adults all enjoy their own bible studies while others simply catch up while cleaning up after dinner. Come and study this most important aspect of the Christian life: joy!

Thank You Troop 48!

Scout Troop 48 spent time this past Tuesday, April 22 cleaning up around the church property in honor of Earth Day! We are so grateful for their help raking the mulch on the playground, cleaning the playground equipment, pressure washing the entryways, mowing the west bank, and edging in a few places too! This wonderful ministry sets such a great example for young people to put service above self-interest and to work together to make a difference in our community. Thank you Troop 48 for your witness, your environmental concern, and your partnership in ministry!

The Women's Ministry heads to Montreat later this year for the annual Women's Connection Conference from August 8-10. The cost is $247.00 and our friends at First Presbyterian Church Kingsport graciously allow us to stay free with them for the weekend. You must register online (do so as a commuter, we do not need rooms) and then please let Lisa Pecorini know that you have registered to go. Learn more about this great event here from Montreat's website and register here. It's going to be a wonderful weekend of fellowship and worship!

Please be advised that there is a phishing email last week involving someone pretending to be a church member asking for gifts cards. This is a scam. While CHPC is a caring, generous, and faithful congregation, there is never a time when someone from our church would need gifts cards in this manner. Please do not respond to any fraudulent email you may have received and remember to contact the church office should you ever have any questions about any church communication.

All items for the weekly online newsletter should be emailed to Mary at office@chpres.org by the end of the day on Tuesdays.
