The Church Wide Retreat Was All Sorts of Fun!

THANK YOU to all those who made it out to Banner Elk, North Carolina this past weekend for the Churchwide Retreat! It was a joy to share in this annual tradition of going to Holston Camp & Retreat Center to spend time together in the midst of God's good creation. This year, we had the opportunity to participate in a volunteer project to help restore part of camp due to the flooding from Hurricane Helene. Our project was simple - help to renew the swing circle that serves as camp's welcome area for day campers all summer long. We were able to sand and stain the swings around the bon fire pit and clear debris from the butterfly path that leads to the outdoor sanctuary. Apart from this service project, we were able to rest, play games, enjoy the great outdoors and each other's company. It was a very restful weekend, and we pray that you too came home "restored and renewed!"

If you have any feedback from our time together, please share that with our Faith Formation crew. This committee leads the charge in planning this annual event, and they would love to take any of your thoughts and reflections into consideration for next year. A date for 2026 will be secured soon, so be on the look out in future newsletters so you can plan on participating in next year's retreat!

This Sunday in Worship:

May 11, 2025 - Fourth Sunday of Easter

Our church family turns back time to the events of Easter Sunday this week, as we find ourselves walking a familiar road to Emmaus. It might be a lonely path through the wilderness, but it is one that we never walk alone. At the end of this journey, there is a seat waiting for each one of us at Christ's table, where our eyes will be opened and our hearts shall be set ablaze by the Good News that Jesus has risen from the dead!

Sunday's Scripture:

Psalm 30, NRSV

Luke 24:13-35, NRSV

Sermon Title:

"Take, Bless, Break, and Give"

Wish to worship with us again or during the week?

Thank You For All Your Generosity!

See You Wednesday For Our Final Simple Supper!

We are almost done with our Wednesday Night Simple Suppers and we are so grateful for all those who have come out to enjoy these intergenerational nights of fellowship and fun! Next week will be our last gathering for this season, but it's never too late to jump in. Our theme is "Practice Joy" and our focus is on how we as the beloved community of Christ-followers may rejoice in the good work God is doing in and through our lives. Supper kicks off at 5:30 pm in the gym before various programs begin at 6:00 pm. Children, youth, and adults all enjoy their own bible studies while others simply catch up while cleaning after dinner. Hope to see you next Wednesday night!

Ministry Highlight: Building & Facility

As we continue into the month of May, CHPC is giving a special shout-out to specific ministries within the church and the hardworking volunteers who help make it all happen. These selfless individuals are often active in the background, but make such a significant contribution to the greater work that is happening within the life of our church family. Up next are our ever dependable friends on the Building & Facility Team!

CHPC is blessed to have a hard-working group of volunteers who labor behind the scenes before any event to ensure there is always a seat for every guest. Humble and modest, this team doesn't monkey around or waste any time. These Beasts of Burden have in fact never been photographed in the wild because the BOB Squad often completes their work before the agreed upon set up time. But don't fear, this friendly crew is not so frozen that they have forgotten how to hang loose and have a little fun too! So the next time you find yourself at a church sponsored supper or fellowship event, whisper a prayer of gratitude for this noble species of Presbyterian servants who make sure all really are welcome. If you are willing to serve alongside the BOB Squad in the future, please reach out to the Building's and Facilities committee to sign up to help.

It's Less Than A Month Away!
