Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers,

and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

This Summer We Are Choosing to ACT Out!

The Acts of the Apostles begins where the Gospel according to Luke leaves off: awareness grows of God’s activity in the Good News of Jesus Christ, and the realization dawns that God’s not done yet! It’s a whole new world and Easter was just the beginning! God will continue to intentionally create new possibilities for the long-promised hopes of our faith to come to fruition through the ministry of the Church.

The Book of Acts exists not merely as a detailed historical record of the early church, but is also a faithful foundational story about the Body of Christ being called together as a living expression of God’s love within the world. Their story from long ago builds up our confidence and renews our hope that the same Spirit of God is still alive and at work within the world today in powerful ways. This Good News dares us to dream about what else God is doing and prepares us to positively respond to the movement of the Holy Spirit.

It all starts with the story about the Ascension of Jesus forty days after Christ’s Resurrection from the dead. Join us this Sunday as we begin “ACTing Out” our new summer sermon series by looking up to heaven and remembering the One who will come down again in the same way the Apostles saw him ascend!

Gratefully,

-David

Ministry Highlight: Our CFL Committee

We are half the way through May! All month long, CHPC is giving a special shout-out to specific ministries within the church and thanking the hardworking volunteers who help make it all happen. These selfless individuals are often active in the background, but make such a significant contribution to the greater work that is happening within the life of our church family. This week we honor the joyful servants on the CFL Committee!

Jesus of Nazareth was a caretaker for the poor, the oppressed, and especially--the hungry. Often throughout the gospels, Jesus and his ministry revolved around a table full of food for all who gathered to hear his teachings. Therefore, to participate in the ministry of feeding the hungry is the simplest and best way we ourselves can imitate Christ. Our church does this through many ministry outreaches for our surrounding community and beyond, and yet it is just as important to spread this ministry internally with our church family as well. That important and delicious work is accomplished by none other than our Congregational Family Life committee. These special women and men offer the important ministry of hospitality to the entire church by organizing various fellowship events and ensuring there is always enough food to go around! These Kitchen Crews prepare wonderful meals for all the various Bible studies hosted by CHPC and we cannot thank enough all of our talented members who serve with dedication and love. If you are interested in serving alongside this special crew, please reach out to Ann Johnson to help in the future.

Thanks To All Who Helped Us Host

The Holston Presbytery Meeting

This past Tuesday, CHPC had the pleasure of hosting members of Holston Presbytery for our quarterly meeting. It was a joy to worship with our fellow Presbyterians from around Northeast Tennessee and to conduct the business of our connectional church. Special thanks to our Congregational Family Life committee for feeding our friends who traveled so far to join us. It is a true blessing to see how God is at work within our greater community!
