Working Together Next Weekend
for our SIHP Bed Build!!!
| |
Join us on Saturday, June 21 for another Bed Build! We are so excited to partner again with the wonderful ministry Sleep in Heavenly Peace. From 8:30 until the work is done (around noon) we will be measuring, cutting, drilling, staining, sanding, and branding in the church parking lot and under the pavilion. These bed building events are always great fun, with a little bit of work, but more importantly great fellowship! Please join us in the mission of making sure no children sleep on the floor in our community.
If you can't help that morning, there are additional opportunities to support this wonderful ministry. At 6:00 pm on Friday, June 20th, volunteers are needed to meet at Lowe's to pick up and haul all of the wood for the upcoming bed build. After completing the build on Saturday afternoon, volunteers will be needed to deliver the finished parts to the warehouse. Sign up sheets are located in the narthex, so please be sure to join us in this opportunity to serve!

This Sunday in Worship:
June 15, 2025 - Trinity Sunday
| |
The fires of Pentecost continue to burn brightly in worship as we turn our collective attention to the next chapter in the story of the Acts of the Apostles. This week, we walk with Peter and John into the courtyard of the Jerusalem Temple to proclaim the Good News, that Christ has Risen, and take notice of a friend in need. What might we learn from the Apostles' example? What might the Spirit of God be calling us to do by the power of Christ's holy name? Come and join us this week as we push ourselves to better take notice of our own surroundings so that we might stand up and walk with the Lord our God.
| |
Sunday's Scripture:
Acts 3:1-10, NRSV
Acts 4:1-12, NRSV
Sermon Title:
"ACTing Out: Stand Up and Walk"

| | Habitat for Humanity's Faith Build Celebration! | | Our very own pastor David Randolph is wrapping up his week of being Camp Chaplain up at Holston Camp and Retreat Center. David has had a wonderful time fellowshipping, mentoring, and building relationships with all of the young people who have traveled to Banner Elk for a week of Holston Summer Camp. He was even able to snag a picture of the finished product of the service project we began during our own Church Retreat back in the spring. It is wonderful to see the work we put into these swings being utilized by all of the young people visiting camp this summer! | | And on the subject of Holston Camp, please mark your calendars for next year's Churchwide Retreat on May 1-3 at Holston Camp and Retreat Center in Banner Elk, NC! It's a great family gathering filled with fun and fellowship that won't be the same without you! | | Summer Support for The Blessing Box | |
With schools out of session for the summer, yours Missions Committee would like to highlight awareness to the fact that many children in our area struggle with food insecurities that were previously alleviated by free school meals. With that in mind, please help us meet this need during our "Drive By Giving at the Blessing Box" this summer. Stop by anytime, 24/7 or if it better suits you, drop off donations in the basket located in the Narthex.
Specifically, please keep an eye out for small travel toiletries or amenities, like the ones you may receive from a hotel stay. We could use those, along with individually wrapped bars of soap and a few rolls of toilet paper, to ensure our neighbors in need have a few human necessities during the Summer. Please continue to pray for this ministry and for all those who offer or receive from it. Thank you so much from the Mission Committee for generously supporting the Blessing Box both with physical and monetary donations, like Cents-ability! If you would like the expired food list emailed to you, if you have any questions, or want to know more ways you can support this important ministry, contact Brenda Clark.

Since 1998, the Pentecost Offering has allowed us to celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the Church! With your contributions and your support, Pentecost helps nurture our youth and young adults by creating opportunities to spread their wings and enrich their faith, ideas and gifts through God’s grace. Our portion of this denominational offering will be used to support our youth going to the Montreat Youth Conference in July. You can learn more about this meaningful special offering by visiting the Presbyterian Special Offerings website here and may give online here. Thank you for your prayer support during this Pentecost season!
Children are always welcome in worship and have a special time together down front after the prayer of confession. All children may enjoy “Children’s Church” downstairs during the sermon and may be picked up in the Kid's Connection room after worship.
Sunday School Classes continue after worship at 11:15 am. The Disciples class meets in room 218 and the Remnant Class meets in room 221. Please speak with David to learn more about how you can participate in these lively discussions.
The Youth Group will meet for dinner and bible study this Sunday from 5-6:30 pm. Please contact Tyler if you or someone you know would like to get involved in this meaningful ministry.
The Chancel Choir returns to practice on June 18 at 7:15 pm in the Sanctuary. Interested in making a joyful noise with new friends? Contact Emily Broadhead to see how you can participate. All voices are welcome!
Save the Date for a church family trip to Dollywood on Friday, September 12. Please RSVP with the church office so we can know how many tickets to order. More details to come.
