Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers,

and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Join us this Sunday at Warrior's Path!

It's finally here! This Sunday, July 28, the entire church is invited to enjoy a picnic and field day at Warriors’ Path State Park. We will meet for food, fun, and games at 4pm under the big Pavilion (Shelter #5) on Duck Island. Our main dish of chicken will be provided by the church. All are encouraged to invite friends, as well as a side dish or dessert to share. Additionally, you may want a folding chair if you wish for a comfy seat throughout the afternoon as we enjoy different activities. Please spread the word and see you there!

This Sunday in Worship: July 28, 2024

Tenth Sunday After Pentecost

It is always a pleasure to welcome our friends from UKirk-ETSU to worship with us at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church! This week, John Golden offers an encore to our recent sermon series about how we are to faithfully respond to temptation. Come and meet the risen Christ again in Galilee as we learn more about the Messiah who saves us and how we are called to follow him throughout any wilderness.

Sunday's Scripture:

Psalm 124:1-8, NRSV

Mark 9:38-50, NRSV

Get Ready For CHPC's Garage Sale!

Volunteers are needed to ensure this event runs smoothly. Opportunities are available to serve throughout the week as individuals drop off donations and especially to help staff the sale on August 2 and 3. Many hands will make light work. Sign up sheets will be in the narthex or you may call the church office. Please speak with Doris Fields if you have any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming sale. Thank you for your support!

And don't forget, please spread the word throughout our community by sharing this event on Facebook!

Rally Day is Coming Our Way!

All are invited to join us on Sunday, August 4 in worship for our annual Rally Day service! We will be kicking off the fall semester for our teachers and students by participating in a blessing of their backpacks. And we will be giving out backpack tags as a small gift. Students and teachers of any age are invited to attend. And if you aren't either of those, come with a heart full of support for our students and teachers as they embark on a new academic year. Please spread the word and we can't wait to see you there!

Enjoy Some Fun in the Sun

During the August Splash Down!

Mark your calendars for our annual August Splash Down on Friday, August 9, from 6:30- 8:30pm at the Kingsport Aquatic Center! All are welcome and please invite friends! This year we will also be collecting new pillows and sets of twin sheets (standard, no extra long please) to support the ministry of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. It's the perfect way for the entire congregation to celebrate the end of the first week of school!

A Musical Note of Thanksgiving

Our dear friend Carolyn Barry retires at the end of the month and we are so grateful for her ministry among us over these past three years to further enrich the musical ministry of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. To show our appreciation, we will be collecting monies for a “Love Offering“ for Carolyn. Anyone who wishes to make a monetary contribution for her may do so by mailing or delivering a check to Sarah in the church office by Wednesday, August 7. All checks should be made payable to Carolyn Barry.

We wish Carolyn all the best as she returns to the choir loft as a member of our church family and thank her for the past three years of faithful, dedicated service. All are welcome to worship with us on Sunday, August 11 as we express our gratitude and celebrate Carolyn with some wonderful music.
