Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that
values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,
you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

What Fun We Had In The Sun!

We had such a great time last Friday night at the Kingsport Aquatic Center for CHPC's annual August Splash Down! It was wonderful to have over 100 people from the church, day school, and scout troop come together to celebrate the end to the first week of school. Special thanks to the members of the Congregational Family Life committee for sponsoring this spectacular event, and a big thank you to all who donated to support our missional partner, Sleep in Heavenly Peace!

This Sunday in Worship: August 18, 2024

Thirteenth Sunday After Pentecost

Our study through the sixth chapter of John's Gospel continues this week as we turn our attention to Christ's claims about the gift of eternal life. What lessons are there for us to learn from regularly coming to Christ's table to celebrate the sacrament of Communion? Let us practice what we preach this Sunday as a family of faith, and pass the bread of life, like Jesus, among all the body of Christ.

Come share the Peace of Christ with coffee and fellowship before worship, beginning at 9:30 in the Parlor! All are welcome; hope to see you there!

Sunday's Scripture:

John 6:35,41-50, NRSV

John 6:51-58, NRSV

Sermon Title:

"The Bread of Life"

And don't forget about the Women's Ministry event later that Sunday afternoon!

CHPC’s Women’s Ministry meets on this coming Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the Youth Center to enjoy a friendly game of Bunco while planning this year's Christmas Shoebox mission for the church. Please bring your favorite food to share and invite any friends to join as well!

Rise Against Hunger on Sunday, August 25

All are invited to join us on Sunday, August 25 for our Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing Event! After a short service at 10:00 am in the sanctuary, we will go down to the gym and work together to package meals to help those in need. We will pour in rice and other food items, seal the bags, pack them in boxes, and load them onto a truck. Our challenge is to pack 16,750 meals in two hours. There are many different ways to serve during this event, from sitting down to count supplies, all the way to standing up to pack boxes. Please come and help us be the hands and feet of Jesus to the world!

An Update from the

Campus Improvement Committee

Committees and mission partners of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church received a questionnaire earlier this summer asking for how they use our facilities and what facility changes would be beneficial to their work. These answers and comments have helped the Campus Improvement Committee get an overview of what our church community feels are both blessings and challenges with our existing infrastructure. This has provided a great starting point for us as we work to make any future recommendations concerning our facilities.

Our next step is to involve our individual church family members in the preparation of our recommendations. It is our goal to have a questionnaire ready for you later this Fall so that the committee can add your responses to those we have already received. Please keep our church and the Campus Improvement Committee in your prayers as we proceed forward during this exciting time in our church’s future.

Best in Class at CHPDS!

Celebrate CHPDS with us! Our very own Day School has yet again won Kingsport Times News' Reader's Choice Awards for Best Daycare and Best Preschool in our area. We look forward to celebrating all their hard work in worship on Sunday, September 15. Congratulations to CHPDS for a vibrant and vital ministry to our community!
