Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers,

and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

The Pumpkin Patch is Coming Back!

The season continues to change in Northeast Tennessee as summer slowly begins to give way to autumn. We hope you will join us in celebrating all the blessings that come with the season of Fall: from the changing colors of the leaves on the trees, the cooler weather, and of course--spending some good quality time with members of our church family out in the Pumpkin Patch!

Throughout the month of October, CHPC's Pumpkin Patch will be open seven days a week for eight hours a day from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Volunteer's are needed to help make this ministry happen and sign up sheets are located in the Narthex. Time slots are available in two hour increments and there are plenty of slots still available. This is a wonderful time to sit and meet new people or to spend time together as a family of faith. Please be sure to sign up now so that we can ensure each day is covered as we connect with our community and welcome them to the church.

Volunteers are also needed to not only to sell pumpkins, but to help with a few special events scattered throughout the month. The first opportunity to serve in this important ministry will be this Saturday, September 27, to unload the pumpkins off the delivery truck. We will meet in the front courtyard at 9:00 am to unload the tractor trailer. This year we are getting an entire truckload, so we will need all the help we can get to unload it! Many hands make light work and we greatly appreciate everyone's help to start things off well.

The Pumpkin Patch grand opening will be the next day on Sunday, September 28 at 11:00 am, right after worship. All sales go to support our children and youth ministries, such as helping to send our youth group to the Montreat Youth Conference. Thank you for your dedicated support of this meaningful ministry!

This Sunday in Worship: September 14, 2025 -

Fourteenth Sunday After Pentecost

The Book of Genesis tells a story of God's great dream for all creation, yet we struggle to see that divine reality and end up wrestling with nightmares of our own making. Last week, we learned how God's dream began with with the family of Israel - with Adam, Abraham, Isaac, and Joseph - and how their story is our story too. God's grace is greater than our flaws and faults, and our Lord invites each of us, even in the midst of our brokenness, to be part of God's dream revealed and realized in the Kingdom of Heaven. Join us this week as we look up with Joseph from the bottom of pit to see the light of hope God still shines brightly for us all.

Sunday's Scripture:

Genesis 37:12-24, NRSV

Genesis 37:25-36, NRSV

Sermon Title:

"Dreaming of Betrayal"

Parents - Please note the Children's Choir will sing this Sunday in worship. Rehersal is at 9:15 am in the sanctuary. Practice will resume on September 21.

Children are always welcome in worship and have a special time together down front after the prayer of confession. All children are invited to also enjoy “Children’s Church” downstairs during the sermon and will return to the sanctuary to receive communion with the congregation.

Sunday School Classes meet after worship at 11:15 am. The Disciples class meets in room 218 and the Remnant Class meets in room 221. Please speak with David to learn more about how you can participate in these lively discussions or any other faith formation opportunity.

And don't forget about Sunday's Pot Luck Supper

You won't want to miss our final Sunday Night Supper this weekend! Dinner starts at 5:00 pm and please remember that this last meeting is a pot luck, so don't forget to bring your favorite dish to share! After breaking bread together, Children, Youth, and Adults will break apart for their own lesson from 5:30-6:30 pm. Our passage comes from Luke 20:9-19 about the parable of the wicked tenants. All are welcome to gather around Christ's table as we commune with the body of Christ!

New Member Class and Lunch

Save the date for a New Member Class, which will be held later this month on Sunday, September 28 at 11:15 am after worship. This friendly gathering is open to all who might be interested in joining the church and even to those who are just curious about how to become more active in the life of our church family. Lunch will be provided, so please let David or Mary in the church office know if you plan to attend.

Parents - Please note, we offer a special children's program during this same time for kids so that adults can better get to know one another before we all break bread together over lunch. Please let Tyler know if your little one will participate.

Officer Nominations Due This Sunday

The 2025 Officer Nominating Committee (ONC) is authorized by the Session to accept suggestions from church members to serve as Elders for the class of 2028, Trustees for the class of 2028, and members of the 2026 Officer Nominating Committee.

From the names you suggest, and dependent upon the work of the Holy Spirit, the ONC will move a slate of five individuals for your approval as Elders, two individuals as Trustees, as well as three individuals to serve on next year’s ONC. In accordance with the Book of Order, a congregational meeting to elect officers has been called by the Session at the conclusion of worship on Sunday, October 26. The deadline for returning your suggestions is this coming Sunday, September 14. You may offer your submissions by completing a nomination form and returning it to the church office or emailing it to Mary directly. Thank you for taking the time to discern who God is calling to lead our church family in this new season!

The SIHP Bed Build was a Big Blast!

This past Saturday, we partnered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to host another bed build. We were able to build 18 more beds for local children in need. Our church family is truly grateful for such a wonderful ministry partnership. It was such good fun and fulfilling work--praise the Lord for all those willing and joyful servants who came out to work together for a few hours to love our neighbors!
