Hey CHPC Family!
The opening of our Pumpkin Patch is right around the corner and I could not be more excited! I hope you are making plans to volunteer, as there are multiple opportunities throughout the entire month of October, and we will need your help! If you are interested in signing up for various roles or have any questions, please reach out to me.
To that end, I have a few important dates for you to put on your calendars. First, please come this Sunday September 18th at 4pm in the gym to the Pumpkin Patch Planning Meeting. There we will go over volunteer training and signing up for our patch and the various events we will have through the month. Also, the pumpkins are rolling in! Please plan on coming to our Pumpkin unloading event on Friday September 30th at 4pm. We will need all hands on deck as we unload our pumpkins from the truck and place them into our patch. This is an important time to have as many people who are able to come, so please mark it in your calendar!
We’ve said it before but it’s worth saying again: this is an awesome opportunity for our church to foster community. Whether we are having fun together working for the patch or we are hosting guests from our greater community, I believe that God can do some awesome things through this ministry. And we really need volunteers to sign up in order for our pumpkin patch and October events for this to be a success.
Thanks again for considering helping out and I look forward to selling some pumpkins with you!

Handbell Practice Begins Monday Night!
|
|
In I Corinthians 12:12-27, Paul reminds us that we are one body but many parts, that no part of the body is greater than another, and that it takes all of us to be whole. Handbells are a unique instrument because they require many hands (and many people) in order to be whole, in order to create beautiful music.
CHPC has an amazing set of handbells and chimes. Would you like to help make our bells ring again by participating in our bell choir? All are welcome to participate in our first practice in the Sanctuary on Monday, September 19th at 7pm. Contact Doug at doug@chpres.org to learn more.

Dear CHPC,
As I struggled to write this note, I kept finding myself thinking back to my initial job interview in October of 2020. When the hiring committee conducting my job interview asked about my faith, a nervous dread came over me. Until this job, my main experiences with church were the fire and brimstone varieties of my childhood. Consequently, I hadn’t voluntarily crossed the threshold of a church building in almost a decade. It wasn't that I had been spiritually sedentary, though. I just wasn't looking forward to answering what I presumed was a mainline version of "how is your walk?"
I answered something along the lines of “I’m not sure, and I’m not sure that I’ll ever be sure.” It was honest, and they understood. Maybe to a lifelong Presbyterian, this might not seem that extraordinary, but it was wildly affirming to someone raised to equate doubt with shame in terms of faith. This gracious level of understanding, my very first interaction with CHPC, filled me with gratitude.
And so, with September 25 approaching and my time with CHPC drawing to a close, I just want to bookend this chapter by expressing my sincere gratitude for this community and for the part it has played in my life over the past two years.
Thank you for being you, CHPC.
Peace and Long Life 🖖

Friends,
While we are sad to see Kacee step away, we celebrate her new opportunity within her field and give thanks for all the gifts she's shared with the church. Please take a moment to thank her personally for helping us navigate so much technical change in a constantly evolving environment.
We are currently receiving applications for a new part-time "Media Technician" position to replace Kacee's Sunday morning responsibilities. If you know someone who can help stream our service and monitor the sound system, please contact me directly.
Gratefully,
- David
