Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that
values diversity of belief. Whether you are full of faith or full of doubt
you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers and enjoy life within our community of faith. All are welcome!
A Letter From Nate
Dear Members of the CHPC Family,

Being with you all since January 2020 has been a wonderful time of worship and fellowship! It’s been different at times conducting ministry within the cloud of COVID, but Julie, the girls and I have been blessed by the overwhelming love and support that we have received during our time of ministry at CHPC, and feel that we have grown closer as a family because of you! But as of late, we have felt God prodding us and calling us to step away, and it is with great regret that I tender my resignation as Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries, effective Sunday, September 12, 2021.

I am grateful for having had the opportunity to serve you and I offer my continued prayers for God’s direction, as you discern your journey for Him as the Body of Christ.

Sincerely,
Nate Varnier
Friends,

While this may be sad news for us at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, I celebrate the impact Nate’s ministry has made within our church family throughout this unpreceded season. I have appreciated his partnership and friendship since my arrival and I admire the kindness he has shown us all in his response to the many changes we have all endured. Throughout it all, he has cared for our youth and children with a servant’s heart and I am grateful for the many ways he has shown Christ’s love to all. Recognizing his continued call in ministry as a hospice chaplain, we wish Nate, Julie, and his daughters well as he continues to faithfully love and serve in our Lord's name.

We will be hosting a special thank you in honor of Nate's ministry next Wednesday, September 8, before the regularly scheduled youth bible study at 6:00 pm. All members of the church are invited to drop by starting at 5:30 pm to share in a sweet treat and thank Nate for his work among us. I hope you will be able to join us in celebrating all Nate has done to the Glory of God.

Gratefully,
 - David
A Special Message from
the FAP Committee
Dear CHPC Congregation:

It is with both heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we prepare to say goodbye to Carlene Eastridge. To show our appreciation, we are collecting monies for a “Love Offering” for Carlene as we wish her well and thank her for 18 years of dedicated service. Anyone who wishes to make a monetary contribution for Carlene may do so by making a check payable to Carlene and delivering or mailing that check to Jan McIver in the church office or bring that love offering to the church on September 12 when we will honor Carlene and celebrate her many years of ministry with us.

Thank you for your generosity.
Your FAP Committee

Office Closed
The church office will be closed on Monday, September 6 in observance of Labor Day. Have a safe and blessed holiday.

Current Covid Protocols
Out of an abundance of caution and a shared desire to love others as Christ calls us to do, the following church ministries have been adjusted by the Session until October First. This includes all individuals masking while on campus and certain programs going outside or online. You may read the guidelines in detail here. Thank you for your willingness to love thy neighbor in these ways as we seek to faithfully serve in Christ's name.

Save the Dates
Mark your calendars now for September 12 and September 26. A special service will be held on the 12th in honor of Carlene's last Sunday including a lunch under the pavilion after worship. Bring your chairs and plan to stay for a time of fellowship.
An installation service for David's ministry will be held on the 26 with a reception following.

Youth Group
No Youth Group this coming Sunday, Sept 5, in observation of Labor Day.
Bible study continues Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 pm under the pavilion in the parking lot. Dinner served.

Nursery Worker Needed: We are looking for a mature, part-time worker for our church nursery. As a Sunday morning and potentially Wednesday evening worker, you will be caring for children from infant to 4 years old. To apply click here.
Habitat for Humanity
CHPC is participating this fall with Holston Habitat for Humanity along with other local churches and civic groups in a community faith build. Peter Borg will once again be our site supervisor.   There are so many churches involved in the faith build this year that CHPC will be sharing our week with the Rotherwood Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

There are several ways you can support Habitat - with prayers, financial gifts or service!  We need to raise $5,000 toward material costs and we need your time!  CHPC is scheduled to work week 2 on October 14, 15 and 16 and will need 5 volunteers each day.  If you would like to volunteer, here’s how to signup:  Register here or by contacting the church office which has specific instructions. If you have questions or issues signing up online, you can contact Mandy Penz at Holston Habitat at volunteer@holstonhabitat.org or 423-239-7689, ext. 801.  Please pray for our Habitat team and volunteers as they plan and organize this important effort!
