Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that
values diversity of belief. Whether you are full of faith or full of doubt
you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers and enjoy life within our community of faith. All are welcome!
A Musical Note...
Friends,

We give thanks to God for the new gifts the Lord continues to bring into our midst. One specific gift comes from our own Carolyn Barry who will serve as our Interim Choir Director. Carolyn is a thoughtful and talented musician and I look forward to working closely with her and the entire music ministry as we continue to intentionally create a meaningful worship service. Carolyn’s first Sunday to direct will be this weekend, and I hope you will take the time to thank her for faithfully sharing her gifts with us.

As the beloved hymn says, “Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Morning by morning, new mercies I see. All I have needed thy hand hath provided. Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!”

In a season of enduring change, Carolyn’s faithful yes to serve is an encouraging reminder that God’s grace and provision remain constant. Great is God’s faithfulness indeed!

Gratefully,
 - David

A Special Message from
the FAP Committee
Dear CHPC Congregation:

It is with both heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we prepare to say goodbye to Carlene Eastridge. To show our appreciation, we are collecting monies for a “Love Offering” for Carlene as we wish her well and thank her for 18 years of dedicated service. Anyone who wishes to make a monetary contribution for Carlene may do so by making a check payable to Carlene and delivering or mailing that check to Jan McIver in the church office or bring that love offering to the church on September 12 when we will honor Carlene and celebrate her many years of ministry with us.

Thank you for your generosity.

Flowers
The flowers in the Sanctuary are given to the Glory of God in honor of Carlene Eastridge by her church family in appreciation of her 18 years of ministry to Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.

Lunch After Worship
A special service will be held this Sunday, September 12th, in honor of Carlene's ministry at CHPC. A lunch will be provided after worship under the pavilion. Please bring your chairs and plan to stay for a time of fellowship. All are welcome!

Current Covid Protocols
Out of an abundance of caution and a shared desire to love others as Christ calls us to do, the following church ministries have been adjusted by the Session until October 1. This includes all individuals masking while on campus and certain programs going outside or online. You may read the guidelines in detail here. Thank you for your willingness to love thy neighbor in these ways as we seek to faithfully serve in Christ's name.

A Service of Installation
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 26, as we will worship during a special installation service for David's ministry here at CHPC. We will be joined by a commission from Holston Presbytery which includes Dr. Martha Moore-Keish, the J.B. Green Professor of Theology at Columbia Theological Seminary. Dr. Moore-Keish was David's professor in seminary and will preach on this special day. A reception will follow worship and all are welcome!

Youth Group
Youth Group continues this coming Sunday, September 12 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm under the pavilion. The midweek Bible study continues each Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm as well. Dinner will be provided.

Nursery Worker Needed: We are looking for a mature, part-time worker for our church nursery. As a Sunday morning and potentially Wednesday evening worker, you will be caring for children from infant to four years old. To apply click here.
Habitat for Humanity
CHPC is participating this fall with Holston Habitat for Humanity along with other local churches and civic groups in a community faith build. Peter Borg will once again be our site supervisor.   There are so many churches involved in the faith build this year that CHPC will be sharing our week with the Rotherwood Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

There are several ways you can support Habitat - with prayers, financial gifts or service!  We need to raise $5,000 toward material costs and we need your time!  CHPC is scheduled to work week 2 on October 14, 15 and 16 and will need 5 volunteers each day.  If you would like to volunteer, you can register here.

Below are some helpful tips to register:
Click the volunteer button and log in with your Giveffect account (or create one). Complete a Volunteer profile and the necessary waiver, then select CHPC's week (B-Week 2: Reserved for CHPC & Rotherwood Ward) Enter the password: holston.  Once you enter the password, the dates of October 14 - 16 will appear for you to click.  Finish filling out the information and you should be all set.  If you have questions or issues signing up online, you can contact Mandy Penz at Holston Habitat at volunteer@holstonhabitat.org or 423-239-7689, ext. 801.

Please pray for our Habitat team and volunteers as they plan and organize this important effort!
