Dear Friends,

CHR’s work has never been more important.

This is the prevailing message of a comprehensive Community Needs Assessment that documents high rates of alcohol use, opioid overdoses, trauma, and suicide risk, as well as problems accessing behavioral health treatment, food insecurity, and unstable housing across all cities and towns in CHR’s footprint.

We conducted the Needs Assessment in 2024, together with Holleran, an independent research and consulting firm. The complete report can be found here.

No doubt, this report is not sitting on shelf. We are using the data to bolster advocacy efforts to expand access to mental health and substance use services. We are also using the data in funding proposals to federal, state, and private sources to help launch and sustain vital services.

Most importantly, the Needs Assessment reminds us of the importance of support from our loyal donors and friends across Connecticut. Thank you for believing in CHR’s mission and continuing to stand with us to inspire hope for individual and community wellbeing.

Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Heather Gates, President/CEO

Cy Hess, Board Chair
