Dear Friends,
Five words can be powerful.
In 2025, CHR looked inward and refreshed our Statement of Values. We started with a survey for all CHR employees, followed by a thought-provoking workshop that shaped the final list of core values. They are:
-
Compassion: We show up with kindness and empathy in everything we do.
-
Collaboration: We work together by listening, sharing ideas, and supporting one another.
-
Respect: We honor different views and each person’s unique experiences.
-
Integrity: We are honest and ethical in our decision making.
-
Innovation: We grow, improve, and adapt to provide high quality care.
During these unpredictable times, it was energizing to focus on the core principles and beliefs that drive our work. The new Statement of Values communicates our deep commitment to the children, families, and adults we serve, as well as our employees, and complements CHR’s Mission and Vision statements which are:
-
Mission: Inspiring hope for individual and community wellbeing.
-
Vision: Every life will get better.
We are enormously proud of the values CHR’s donors, friends, and employees exemplify every day. With your enduring friendship and support, we know CHR will continue to be a beacon of hope to thousands of people every year. Thank you so much!

Heather Gates, President/CEO

CHR provides effective, evidence-based care to help people of all ages define and discover recovery and
optimal health. Here’s a look at recent satisfaction data from the individuals and families we serve.
| | |
Illustrating CHR’s broad range of services for people of all ages, CHR has met all the rigorous federal criteria as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in Northcentral and Northeastern CT. This is the gold standard in behavioral health services, and CHR was the first agency in CT to earn this distinction.
Recent data show that services funded with CCBHC support, including Engagement Specialists and Peer Support, nearly doubled client engagement in vital clinical programs vs. individuals who did not receive these services.
While we have secured federal grant support to maintain CCBHC-level services, we continue to advocate for the state to permanently implement a CCBHC model for Medicaid payments to ensure that individuals and families have access to all the services they need.

For the 12th year in a row, nonprofit behavioral healthcare provider Community Health Resources (CHR) was named a Top Workplace among large employers in CT in 2025.
“Being named a Top Workplace is a tremendous honor and even though we’ve been on this list for 12 consecutive years, it’s not something we ever take for granted,” said Heather Gates, President and CEO. “I’m so proud of this designation, and grateful to our staff for participating in the Top Workplace survey.”
The 2025 awards were based on anonymous data collected by more than 22,800 Connecticut employees.

CHR was honored by both USA TODAY and Newsweek for being among the nation’s top workplaces!
The 2025 USA TODAY Top Workplaces Award honors organizations with 150 or more employees that value employee listening and engagement, as illustrated by findings from a confidential survey conducted by Energage, the HR research and technology company behind the Top Workplaces.
In addition, CHR was named one of America’s Greatest Midsized Workplaces 2025 by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group. This distinction recognizes companies through a rigorous evaluation based on online employee reviews, publicly available data, an extensive survey, and the evaluation of more than 120 Key Performance Indicators related to culture and the workplace experience.
“Our employees give so much to the individuals and communities we serve, and I’m so proud that they are being honored with these national distinctions,” said Heather Gates, CHR’s President and CEO.
