Eric Peeples, M.D.
Eric Peeples, M.D., assistant professor, Neonatology, effectively balances academic research and clinical service in the neonatal intensive care units at Children's and UNMC. His research to treat hypoxic ishemic encephalopathy (HIE) is one factor that has earned him the second CHRI Scholar Award.

New Team Members:
Research Coordinators
Welcome to our four new team members!

Serena Gaines is a research nurse coordinator who will primarily be managing studies in the Hematology/ Oncology division.

Nick Reynolds is a research database coordinator. His initial support will cover building REDCap databases and surveys for investigator studies, with plans to expand database capabilities in 2020.

Betty Oberle is a research nurse coordinator, supporting a large NICU study in partnership with Philips.

Laura Fischer is joining PRO as a clinical research associate, overseeing recruitment efforts on several studies as well as teaming up with study coordinators on study visits, data monitoring and regulatory work for active studies.

Access to all research coordinators is done through the PRO intake process.

When To Submit Emergency or Compassionate Use IRB Applications
Learn about Emergency Use and Compassionate Use IRB Applications, including the difference between the two, when each can be applied and how to prepare a submission for IRB approval.
Research Education Sessions on a variety of topics are coming in January 2020, keep an eye out for updates.
National Month of Giving:
Encourage Giving to Research During December
December is National Giving Month, this year encourage your network to donate funds to further child health research. There are two easy ways to give to the Child Health Research Institute -- through the Children's Hospital & Medical Center Foundation or University of Nebraska Foundation.
