CHS CyberPatriot team wins national competition

The Carrollton High School CyberPatriot team competed in the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition Jan. 21 and the results are in — the Air Force JROTC team captured the first-place victory in the Silver Tier category — making the Trojans national champions.


During the competition, students are given time to find vulnerabilities in various computer operating systems, including passwords and firewalls.

Georgia State Superintendent of Schools Richard Woods visited Carrollton City Schools Feb. 1 to recognize Marissa Ramos-Santana who is a recipient of the third annual Georgia Recognizing Inspirational School Employees (RISE) Award. The award honors those who provide exemplary service in public education.

Celebrating Black History Month with Virtual Reality

The Georgia Public Broadcasting Mobile Virtual Reality Lab visited social studies classes at Carrollton Junior High School this week to kick off Black History Month festivities. In the Civil Rights Movement Virtual Learning Journey, students can sit at a virtual lunch counter to browse interactive maps of the Freedom Rides, view biographical videos of civil rights leaders, and listen to protest songs on the jukebox, among a variety of other highly engaging experiences that explore the history of the Civil Rights Movement.

CHS Performing Arts presents twist on "The Odd Couple"

Carrollton High School Performing Arts presents the Neil Simon play, “The Odd Couple, Female Version,” Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Holcombe Theater of the Mabry Center for the Arts.  Unger and Madison are at it again - Florence Unger and Olive Madison, that is! Join us for this comedy classic where Trivial Pursuit has replaced poker night, but the hilarity remains the same.  Directed by Tommy Cox.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or by calling 770-834-2116.

National Read Aloud Day at CCS

Wednesday, Carrollton City Schools students celebrated National Read Aloud Day. This global effort is celebrated annually more than 170 countries and brings people together through the shared connection of reading aloud in communities. Student-athletes and Early Childhood Education Pathway students from Carrollton High School and University of West Georgia Volleyball athletes spent the morning reading to younger Trojans during their bus commute and in their classrooms.

Trojan Trebles offering Singing Valentine's 


Want to surprise your sweetheart with something different this Valentine’s Day?  Send them a Singing Valentine from the Carrollton High School Trojan Trebles!  The group will travel to their business, home or school on Tuesday, Feb. 14, to serenade them with a song of your choice.  Selections are  “Be My Baby,” “Sugartime,” “Lollipop/Sincerely,”  “Mr. Lee/Why do Fools Fall in Love,” “Chapel of Love” and “One Fine Day.”  The cost is $25 for one selection, $40 for two songs or $55 for three selections. The group is limited to the Carrollton city area. Please call 770-834-2116 to purchase or for more information.
