Preparing for Sunday
Find the lessons appointed for Sunday here >
Sunday's readings readings, we explore another image of Jesus: light for the world, dispelling spiritual darkness. In the first reading, Samuel sees beyond outward appearances to choose the least likely son of Jesse to anoint as king. Paul explains that the Christian’s life must be characterized by the light of holiness. In today’s gospel, a blind man gains sight and worships Jesus.
Prelude: "Adagio" from Prelude, Adagio, and Fugue in C major - J.S. Bach
Gospel Hymn: 677 - God moves in a mysterious way
Closing Hymn: 538 - God of mercy, God of Grace
Postlude: Prelude in D major - Sergei Rachmaninoff
Prayer Books
As congregations, families, and individuals seek to live faithfully in these uncertain times, Church Publishing Incorporated is working to support you. They are making available an easy-to-navigate PDF version of the Book of Common Prayer, and other free resources for devotional use.

At CHS, if you are in need of a Book of Common Prayer, they are free. Each BCP is stored in a Ziplock bag in box under the front awning at CHS. Pick them up as needed.

The latest scam
We appreciate deeply your ongoing commitment to Church of the Holy Spirit. The Vestry & Fr Phil and many others are working on ways to share in community through prayer and conversation even as we are under quarantine. But be especially careful as you maintain your stewardship not to fall for devious communications asking you to make changes to any banking info or make donations in any way other than secure means.
They are only these:
  • Mail (God bless the US Postal Service!!!)
  • This includes those of us whose bank mails in our pledges automatically
  • The donate button on our website.

Blessings on you all

A message to CHS parishioners from the Finance Committee:
We trust and pray that you and your family are well. We are all in this together. As we sail into uncharted territory during this health crisis, please continue to remember CHS. Our bills continue to come in and many of our vendors are small business owners. We want to continue to support them, as well as our CHS staff. As you are able, please support the church by mailing in your envelopes to the Church, using your bank’s online bill pay systems, or online by credit card (by using the donate now button below). Thank you for your continued support of our parish community. Please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Yours in Christ,
Sally Bird
Habits of Grace: An invitation for you, from Presiding Bishop Curry
As we learn how to adjust our lives given the reality of the coronavirus and the request to do our part to slow its spread by practicing social distancing, I invite you to join me each week to take a moment to cultivate a ‘habit of grace.’ A new video meditation will be posted on Mondays through May.
