Advent 1- Sapientia Sunday
Eternal God, your Word of wisdom goes forth and does not return empty: Grant us such knowledge and love of you that we may perceive your presence in all creation and every creature; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, now and for ever. Amen.
Worship with us
Services of Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m. & 10:00 a.m.
The guest preacher and celebrant will be the Rev. Beth Rauen Sciaino, priest-in-charge at St. Bernard's, Bernardsville while Father Phil will be at St. Luke's, Gladstone.
Seven week Advent?
We are following in an earlier tradition: "Historically, the season of Advent was the seven Sundays leading up to Christmas, with the days in between. Currently, and in an unbroken tradition that is centuries old, those in Eastern Orthodox churches celebrate seven Sundays of Advent. The readings in the Revised Common Lectionary do not have to be changed to observe this longer season of preparation for both the first coming in Bethlehem or Christ’s second coming at the end of time. In fact, the readings in these last three Sundays of the church year are designed for a longer Advent." (from the blog of the Rev. Canon Frank Logue, "The Loose Canon")

Pancake Stack Rocked!
Pancake Stack, a frisbee team from Church of the Holy Spirit plus friends, was at the Bonnie Brae Frisbee for Fun tournament. It was lots of fun while raising money for a great cause. Thank you to all the donors who supported the team and helped raise over $1200 to help send the boys who live at Bonnie Brae to camp this summer. Thank you, Philip Carr-Jones for all those days of Frisbee Camp that led this crew to reach out to others! The team had a great day! They were awarded Best Sportsmanship of the tournament. They came away with a win and a tie, which improved their record compared to last year.
