Children’s programming is on Summer hiatus. Children are invited to participate in worship as best as they are able. There are coloring sheets and quiet toys available in the sanctuary for children to use if they would like. Please do not leave children unsupervised in the St Nicholas Room.

Handbell Choir

The CHS handbell choir will resume in September and we are always looking for new members! Rehearsals are the first Thursday evening and third Sunday afternoon of the month (first rehearsal September 3). Call or email Trish at simpsoncurtint@yahoo.com; 908-310-2782.

September 13

The Fall Welcome Home breakfast will be September 13th, between services. It will be Pot Luck – so please bring your favorite breakfast dish to share.

Children's Formation News!

CHS Children's Formation is resuming on September 13!

CHS Children's Formation meets at 10:00am in Dove Hall on the first three Sundays of each month, September through June. All ages are welcome and children rejoin the main service at The Peace.

We always have two adults leading the children.

Our focus is ever on becoming like Christ, serving others, proclaiming God's love, and growing in the spirit. This Fall season, our theme is ‘Welcoming the Stranger’ and ‘Feeding the Hungry.’ The children will be reaching out to our community by making Halloween cards for the children at ‘First Step’ and decorating Thanksgiving bags for Meals on Wheels.

We are excited to introduce brand-new lesson plans centered around the Deep Blue Children’s Bible. To help families stay connected, we will share the full schedule with parents so you can reinforce the lessons at home. In Dove Hall, we will cover the tables with butcher block paper, allowing the children to draw and create while listening and discussing the lesson. Our team of adult volunteers is ready to joyfully serve and learn with your children!

Bagels & Books

"The Vanishing Half" is now in the office. You will notice post it notes with a number on each of the books. Please follow the same procedure as you borrow a book. Many thanks to Roberta for creating a sign out sheet and for help labeling the books. Also, many thanks to Susan K. for returning the last book kit to the library. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Regarding the next meeting date, it looks like we will need to gather on either 9/20 or 9/27 as the book kit is due back shortly thereafter. (9/13 is the breakfast)

For whatever reason, the library ghost has decided to black out the former book numbers, thus the post it notes. Thank you all for leaving them affixed to the books.

I've begun reading the book and am finding it engaging.

Parish-Wide Read

Everyone in the congregation is invited to read the book “Church Tomorrow?” by The Rev. Stephanie Spellers between now and Labor Day. The cost per book is $16.25 and copies are available now in the office. There is also an electronic version available for e-readers.

We are very excited about our auction theme this year…. “A Starry, Starry Night: Celebrating Sixty Years of Faith, Family & Fellowship.” Expect to be "star struck" by the ambience and auction items that will be offered this year.

Riley & Jake's will be providing a delicious meal featuring Tomato Caprese, Potato Salad, Cucumber Dill Salad, Summer Squash Provencale, Pulled Pork, Shredded Jerk Chicken, and Chicken Kabobs.

Of course there will be dessert!
