Worship with us in person or online

November 16, 2025

Sunday worship services are at 8:00 am and 10:00 am

CHS Sunday Children's Formation meets at 10:00 am in the St. Nicholas Room off the narthex. Adult volunteers are needed. The diocesan rules state that there must be 2 persons 21 or older, at all times, for the conduct of youth ministries. When there is not a second adult present, the Children’s Formation meeting must be cancelled. Please volunteer to help our children grow in faith and spirit with Jesus

All ages are welcome.

This coming week’s focus is “Being Grateful.”

The storybook: Grateful, by John Bucchino, Illustrated by Anna-Liisa Hakkarainen.

Read by: Jasmine M.

Moderated by: Janet M.

Zoom Host:  Dave M.

When: Saturday, November 15th, 4:00-4:30 PM.

Faith Questions:

1. What do you have in your life to be thankful and grateful for?

2. In the story, we read about a hand to guide us.  Is this God’s hand?

3. It’s hard to be thankful all the time.  What helps you stay grateful/thankful when you have bad or sad days?

Food Pantry Urgent Needs

While holiday donations have been wonderful, the Pantry shelves still need to stay stocked with day-to-day essentials that keep our pantry running smoothly.

If you’d like to help, please visit the Amazon Wish List — every item shipped makes a real difference!

Items we’re still in need of:

  •  Cereal (sweet flavors only — no corn flakes, please)
  •  Jelly
  •  Chicken broth
  •  Beef broth
  •  Baked beans
  •  Toothpaste
  •  Men’s deodorant
  •  Shampoo
  •  Conditioner

Several markets will allow you to donate a turkey or ham directly to the food pantry. Your continued generosity is truly a blessing. ShopRite gift cards can provide the perishable items (dairy, produce, meat) and those donations can be via the Red Wagon or online.

With blessings to you all,

Suzanne and Katie Higgins

Thanksgiving

St. Nick is coming to Church of the Holy Spirit on Sunday, December 7th, and we’re celebrating with a Gingerbread-themed morning of holiday cheer!

We’ll gather for one worship service at 9:00 AM, followed by a festive “Breakfast with St. Nick” in Dove Hall beginning around 10:30 AM and wrapping up by noon.

This will be a potluck-style breakfast, so feel free to bring a favorite dish to share.

We will have holiday crafts, games, and family photos with St. Nick, courtesy of Dabour Photography.  Feel free to invite friends and family to join in the festivities! It’s a joyful morning you won’t want to miss, we hope to see you there!

Bagels & Books - November 23!

Our next meeting of the book club is on November 23, to discuss "See No Stranger." In reading this (I haven't made it to the end), I'm struck by some similarities to our last selection, "James." For our next discussion, I'd like to try something different. Let's compare the moral issues these two books have in common - racism certainly leaps out at me. Rather than our usual in-depth evaluation of our present selection, I'd like to compare broader themes the two books share. Some of you have mentioned you would have liked to further explore the characters in "James," so this is an opportunity to do so while reviewing "See No Stranger." In the meantime, think about how James and Valerie Kaur face similar difficulties in their lives. Looking forward to this discussion.

Kind regards,

Suzanne Higgins <suzanne.l.higgins@gmail.com>

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the All Saints remembrance event to benefit the Rev. Philip Carr-Jones Fund for CHS Facilities Renovations. We raised $8,875 and recognized almost 200 special saints in our lives. Our generous benefactor has offered to match this amount. This fund will allow us to enhance and repair our wonderful building and worship space in the upcoming years.
