The 16th Sunday after Pentecost

Low Tech Sunday

Note from Father Phil Regarding Parish Covid Protocols

Going forward, with the guidelines of the CDC and Diocese of NJ we will observe the following adaptations to our policy.

10 am:  masking is optional (nothing changed)

8 am:   Masks will be worn by altar party when consecrating and distributing Holy Communion.

Members of the congregation are expected to remain at discrete distances when gathering in the sanctuary and when coming forward for Communion.

Note: the wearing of masks is appropriate and necessary for some of those in our community and we respect and honor everyone.

Also note: we have never had a single instance of community spread throughout this now-ending pandemic. Your priest chooses to be vaccinated and boosted with all available vaccinations including the seasonal flu and others.  Our church is one of the safest arenas to attend public gatherings and has been for the past 2 1/2 years.

Can you help with driving?

If there are any folks out there who can assist on an as-needed, and hopefully infrequent, basis, could you shoot me a note? The recipients of our help are always most grateful. The more folks we have on the distribution list, the fewer times we will have to call on you. The key is to respond one way or another. PLEASE. LET ME KNOW IF I CAN ADD YOU TO THE LIST. OR NOT.

In our community - Shoe Drive for Stewartsville Middle School Performing Arts Club!

Do you have shoes in your closet that you never wear? We will take them! Every pair of gently worn, used and new shoes we collect turns into funds for our cause and the shoes are kept out of landfills! These shoes are then sent to impoverished countries where people living in these areas are employed to sell and buy our shoes!! We are collecting gently worn, used and new shoes of all kinds to raise money for new lighting and sound equipment for the stage at the Stewartsville Middle School, Stewartsville NJ where the musicals are directed by Dale Dabour, and parishioners Sidney Ryan and Levi Chardoussin are also members of the drama club! Please help support our cause! We will have a drop off bin placed in the Narthex! Thank you for your support! Dale Dabour ([email protected])

Sunday's readings warn of the dangers of spiritual complacency. As Jerusalem is conquered, Jeremiah (SC) buys a plot of land to show his faith that God will restore the land. Amos (GR) cautions that indulgence and apathy will lead to terror and loss. Paul urges Timothy to eagerly embrace eternal life and the riches of Christ Jesus, enduring until Jesus returns. The rich man in today’s gospel story exchanges his comforts for torment, while Lazarus exchanges his tormented life for paradise.
